The One Stop Student Service Center is seeking to hire a Student Assistant to work in-person at the One Stop location at 2 West 13th Street, Room 506
The One Stop Student Service Center is a frontline team that assists students, their families, and alumni with questions about financial aid, billing, payment, financial holds, and transcript ordering. We prepare enrollment verifications and a variety of different types of forms for students. We offer assistance in person, by phone, and by email. We work collaboratively with colleagues across the university to resolve questions that students present to us. Our partner offices are Financial Aid, the Registrar’s Office, the Retention Initiative, and Student Accounts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Welcoming students, their guardians, and alumni to the One Stop Student Service Center.
Checking in students who have made appointments via the New Queue system, and contacting colleagues to alert them of the students' arrival.
Helping students to check in or make appointments in the New Queue system
Listening to voicemail messages and logging them into a shared spreadsheet
Assisting with in-person, telephone, and email inquiries
Assisting with office and event support for the One Stop team as assigned
Assisting with promotion of the One Stop to students
Creating a variety of documents in Google Suite and Excel
Students must understand the importance of and maintain confidentiality in daily work operations. Students will be required to engage in training regarding the Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act, (FERPA) and abide by all university policies and procedures. This is a part-time, hourly position with a schedule of 16 hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Full-time student status at The New School
Commitment to student service
Prior office experience
Friendliness
Strong organizational skills
Excellent oral communication skills
Strong writing skills
Proficiency in Google Suite
Familiarity with Excel
Strong follow-up skills with attention to detail
Ability to work independently
Ability to adhere to University COVID-19 policy and requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in and interest in building & maintaining a knowledge base
Experience in and interest in creating a digital manual
Experience in and talent in creating a variety of artifacts using Notebook LM
Ideas about and delight in improving the student experience
HOURLY RATE: $17.00 per hour
WORK MODE : On-Campus Position - Employees in this position are expected to work on-campus during regularly scheduled work hours due to the nature of the work being that which is not feasible, or not in the best interest of the organization, to be performed remotely. #LI-DNI
Availabilities specifically seek a Student Assistant who can work with us on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The student will work a total of 16 hours per week through August 25, 2026.
