Avionics Solar Technician

Compensation: $30.00 - $45.00 / hour



Description

You will play a critical role in the hands-on fabrication, assembly, and testing of solar array hardware. This role will focus on, mechanical assembly, and production testing.


Responsibilities

  • Perform manual soldering of solar cell strings including tab ribbon soldering, cell-to-cell interconnects, and bypass diode attachment.
  • Execute gull-wing and other precision solder joint formations on solar array circuit interconnects per IPC workmanship standards.
  • Handle ultra-thin solar cells, glass cover sheets, and silicon substrates with care to prevent micro-cracking or contamination.
  • Inspect solder joints visually and with optical aids; identify and disposition non-conforming joints.
  • Perform rework and repair of solder connections per approved rework procedures.
  • Maintain cleanroom protocols, ESD controls, and FOD prevention throughout all soldering operations.
  • Document assembly activities, rework operations, and non-conformances in production records.
  • Use production software and digital work instruction systems accurately.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of assembly and integration processes, recommending and implementing efficiency enhancements and quality


Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in a hands-on manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions
  • Demonstrate high level of ownership and problem-solving abilities
  • Able to set up and use a torque wrench and other hand tools
  • Experience performing crimping, wire striping, continuity testing
  • Ability to adapt to changing work assignments under tight deadlines


Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a fast-paced production development environment
  • Experience with in-space electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Experience with aerospace industry/ramp up new project
Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks such as bending or twisting, grasping, standing, lifting, pushing, stooping, stretching, carrying, and use hands to operate tools or machine controls
  • Must be able to lift and carry parts or equipment up to 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
