Position Description: Admission Counselor/Assistant Director
Reports To: Director of Admission, Fairfield Bellarmine Campus
POSITION SUMMARY
Fairfield Bellarmine is committed to expanding access to higher education by serving talented students from a variety of backgrounds, particularly first-generation and lower income students. The Admission Counselor/Assistant Director plays a vital role in helping students and families navigate the college search process while advancing Fairfield Bellarmine's mission of providing a transformational, student-centered educational experience. The successful candidate will be passionate about educational access, relationship-building, and supporting students as they pursue their academic and personal goals.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the development and implementation of strategic recruitment initiatives to enroll an academically talented and mission-inspired first-year class.
Manage an assigned recruitment territory and develop relationships with prospective students, families, school counselors, community-based organizations, and other educational partners.
Represent Fairfield Bellarmine at high schools, college fairs, community events, and other recruitment programs.
Conduct admissions presentations, information sessions and interviews with prospective students and families.
Review applications and participate in the holistic evaluation of applicants for admission.
Assist with all processes related to the enrollment of the incoming first-year class.
Plan, coordinate, and facilitate prospective student, admitted student, and yield events and outreach initiatives.
Maintain accurate student records and communications through Slate CRM and other university systems.
Assist with enrollment operations, data management, reporting, and other office functions.
Provide exceptional customer service and personalized guidance to students and families throughout the enrollment process.
Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and campus and community partners to support recruitment and student success initiatives.
Participate in professional development opportunities to strengthen competencies and best practices for serving Bellarmine's student population.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission and enrollment goals of Fairfield Bellarmine.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
One to two years of experience in college admission, recruitment, student services, education, community-based organizations, or a related field preferred.
Demonstrated commitment to educational access, inclusion, belonging, and student success.
Experience planning and coordinating events, either professionally or through student leadership experiences, is highly desirable.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation experience.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to work effectively with individuals from all backgrounds.
Knowledge of Slate CRM or comparable customer relationship management systems preferred.
Ability to work evenings and weekends throughout recruitment and yield cycles as needed.
Valid driver's license required.
Spanish-speaking ability is highly desirable.
