We’re looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our ever-evolving Engineering Platform – Merchant Experience team and help lead the design and delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performing global payment solutions through modern front-end experiences, robust Java backend services, and reliable data-driven systems.
What you’ll own
We are looking for a hands-on, technically strong Lead Software Engineer with deep experience in React-based front-end development, Java backend engineering, API development, and database-driven application design for our global payment processing platforms.
In this role, you will lead the design, build, testing, and support of full-stack solutions across responsive user interfaces, scalable Java services, RESTful APIs, and relational database layers. You will guide engineers, influence technical decisions, collaborate with product, architecture, QA, and platform teams, and ensure delivery of secure, reliable, maintainable, and high-performing applications.
What you’ll bring
Years of Experience: 8+ years of professional software development experience, including strong hands-on experience building enterprise web applications using React, Java backend technologies, APIs, and databases, with proven experience leading technical delivery.
Full-Stack Engineering Leadership: Strong ability to lead end-to-end feature design and delivery across React front-end components, Java backend services, API integrations, and database interactions while driving quality, scalability, performance, and engineering consistency.
Java Backend Expertise: Deep proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, microservices, object-oriented design, integration patterns, exception handling, logging, secure service development, and technical troubleshooting for complex distributed applications.
React Front-End Skills: Strong hands-on experience designing reusable React components, establishing front-end patterns, managing application state, integrating front-end applications with backend APIs, and applying strong knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, accessibility, and responsive UI development.
Database and Query Skills: Strong knowledge of relational databases, SQL queries, schema design, joins, stored procedures, indexing concepts, query optimization, data troubleshooting, data integrity, and guiding teams on effective use of application data models.
Engineering Best Practices: Proven experience driving code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, CI/CD adoption, secure coding practices, performance tuning, debugging, observability, incident analysis, and production support practices for business-critical applications.
Leadership, Communication, and Ownership: Strong problem-solving skills, ownership mindset, and the ability to lead technical discussions, mentor engineers, manage delivery risks, influence stakeholders, and collaborate effectively with engineering teams, QA, product partners, architecture, and non-technical stakeholders.
It’s a bonus if you have
Payments or Fintech Domain: Experience working in payments, banking, fintech, or other high-volume transaction processing environments, with exposure to security, compliance, and operational resilience expectations.
Modern Engineering Tools and Platforms: Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, event-driven architecture, cloud-native application delivery, or modern DevOps practices.
Cloud and API Experience: Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure, along with API gateways, authentication, authorization, security policies, and integration with distributed systems.
Technical Leadership: Experience mentoring developers, leading design discussions, setting engineering standards, improving delivery practices, and helping teams adopt modern full-stack development approaches.
