Description
Beloit Health System is looking to add Food Service Workers to our Team!
- Shift: 1st and 2nd shifts available
- Schedule: 5:30a-2p / 6:30a-3p / 11:30a-8p / 3p-8p
- Hours per week: Varied – Per Diem
- Benefits Status: Not Eligible

The Food Service Worker supports the delivery of safe, high-quality meal services to patients, staff, and visitors. This position performs a range of responsibilities including patient tray assembly, dishwashing, café service, catering setup, and sanitation. The role contributes to a positive patient experience and ensures food safety compliance by following department policies, regulatory standards, and infection prevention protocols.
Patient Meal Service:
- Assemble, portion, and deliver patient trays accurately according to dietary guidelines and selections.
- Prepare and deliver late trays and nourishments in a timely and sanitary manner.
- Always follow proper food handling and infection control procedures.
- Ensure proper station setup and readiness prior to each meal service.
- Document food temperatures and report discrepancies promptly.
Café & Snack Shop Operations:
- Serve customers courteously and efficiently in the West Hart Café and Snack Shop.
- Operate the cash register following cash handling procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and restock condiments, beverages, and supplies.
- Prepare simple food items such as sandwiches, salads, and beverages as needed.
- Follow hand hygiene protocol after each cash transaction or food handling activity.
Catering and Events:
- Assemble, deliver, and clean up after catering events including coffee carts, luncheons, and special functions.
- Ensure equipment and supplies are prepared and returned in clean, working order.
Sanitation and Dishwashing:
- Operate the dish machine, wash pots and pans, and clean dish room equipment.
- Maintain clean and organized storage, prep, and dishwashing areas.
- Sweep and mop designated areas, clean walls, and perform routine sanitation duties.
- Document and monitor sanitizing solution concentrations in accordance with policy.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous food service, dietary, or customer service experience in a healthcare or hospitality environment preferred.
- Familiarity with patient dietary restrictions and food safety guidelines is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and supervisors.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work independently and collaboratively.
- Basic computer literacy; must be able to read and respond to emails daily.
- Must be able to organize and prioritize multiple demands.
- Adhere to established hospital and Dietary policies, rules and regulations.
