Position Summary:
This position is responsible for serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests in accordance with established department policies, procedures and steps of service.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: includes but not limited to:
- Takes drink orders from the guests and delivers them in a timely manner, following the established steps of service
- Clears dirty glassware, plates and silverware from the patrons
- Consistently applies knowledge of the state liquor laws, proper identification procedures, monitoring levels of intoxication, intervention strategies, refusal of service and shut off procedures
- Sets up dining room, lounges and other operational stations according to established procedures
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists in maintaining the cleanliness of the outlet
- Assists the bartender, as needed
- Performs opening and closing duties
- Communicates with management on inventory and maintenance needs
Minimum Education and Qualifications:
- Experience in bartending or serving cocktails in a full service restaurant, lounge or showroom/nightclub
Competencies: Incumbent will master the following competencies while in this position:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent knowledge of operational policies with regard to hours of operation, types of menus offered, restaurant concepts and marketing programs
- Thorough working knowledge of all legal beverage service guidelines and state liquor laws including proper identification, refusal of service and shut off procedures
- Skills in proper tray handling, ordering and garnishing of all beverages
Training Requirements:
- Outlet-specific standard operating procedures
- SMART alcohol awareness
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to bend and lift full beverage trays of up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours
