Description

The Town of Marana is seeking a Project Manager to work in the Water Department. The Project Manager oversees engineering, infrastructure, and construction projects related to water/wastewater systems and public utilities from planning through completion and commissioning.
This position manages budgets, schedules, contractors, and compliance requirements while coordinating with engineers, vendors, and government agencies to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.

This position requires a regular work schedule, Monday through Friday generally between the hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Expected Hiring Range: $74,065.89 - $92,582.05
- Placement within the expected hiring range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget.
Salary Range: $74,065.89 - $111,098.22
- Manages Water and Wastewater Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects from conceptual planning to construction closeout and commissioning.
- Directs and supervises consultant engineers, technicians, and support staff throughout the project process to complete projects within required timelines, budgets, and according to the project scope.
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of water and wastewater improvement projects.
- Review and approve consultant engineer and contractor documents, including but not limited to scopes, fees, design reports, construction plans, specifications, material submittals, RFIs, etc. as needed throughout the project.
- Collaborate with the consultant engineers, Marana Water operations staff, and other departments to ensure effective execution of the projects.
- Review, authorize, and document project expenditures throughout the life of the project. Prepare and present periodic project updates to Town staff and as required for federal funding.
- Mitigate and minimize exposure risks to the Town. Ensure engineering and construction activities comply with local, state, and Town regulations, standards, and codes.
- Observe and document construction via the project inspector for water and wastewater infrastructure to verify adherence to design documents and permitting requirements.
- Success in this position will require strong written and verbal communication skills, a high level of attention to detail, and exceptional organization.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. (Additional relevant professional experience may substitute for required education on a year-for-year basis.)
- Three or more years of experience in civil engineering, construction management, or closely related field.
- Completion of the Town of Marana background check
- One year of supervisory experience or must complete the Town of Marana’s supervisor academy within one year of hire date.
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid Arizona Driver License.
- Must complete both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Projects, Excel, Word, Outlook, Etc.
- Basic knowledge in hydraulic modeling Software– EPAnet, InfoWater, waterCAD, etc.
- Strong understanding of the construction and maintenance of public water and wastewater infrastructure, including conveyance/carrier pipes, manholes, valves, pumps, wells, electrical equipment, SCADA equipment, etc.
- Strong understanding of the Town of Marana, City of Tucson, and Pima County design standards and codes for construction of new water and wastewater infrastructure.
