Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer for our facility in Irving, TX.  In this role, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Canon-Based Air Defense (CBAD) program, a high-profile effort within the Defense Systems sector.  CBAD integrates sensors, battle management command and control, and effectors leveraging battle-proven cannons and a suite of advanced ammunition, ready to defend against subsonic cruise missiles and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) from conflict start to finish.

Responsibilities:

• Derives system-level requirements and performs Voice of the Customer requirements analysis and requirements management.

•  Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

•  Develops system architecture, interface control documentation, and system design.

• Performs system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk management, and supportability and effectiveness analysis for total systems.

• Analyses are performed at all levels of total system life cycle, to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, support and disposal.

• Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

• Acts as chief engineer at the project level and has responsibility for all technical aspects of the program. These include (but are not limited to) design, development, support of production, verification and validation, certification, and delivery of final product.

•  Acts as the single point of contact for all other functional areas for programs.

•  Performs Cost Account Manager tasks and has responsibility for ensuring that scheduling and budgets remain on track.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in science with 8 Years experience or a Master with 6 Years experience or a 4 Years with PhD with 4 Years experience

• Engineering BS degree; Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace preferred

•  Leadership experience is a plus

•  Ability to support engineering design activities is desirable (Mechanical, Electrical, and Software)

• Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualification:

•  Developed schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans to meet program needs

•  Generate system definition with Systems Engineers

•   Support activities to facilitate production and installation schedules

• Leading for projects while managing project requirements, budget, and deliverables

• Technical support (international and domestic) customers

• Experience with design reviews with customers and end users/operators

•  Experience support bidding on potential projects

•  Bachelors or Master’s  degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace

Primary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
