Engineering Intern (Automation)

Calix is a cloud and appliance-based platform and managed services company. Broadband service providers leverage the Calix broadband platform, cloud, and managed services to simplify operations, engagement, and service, innovate for their consumer, business. and municipal subscribers and grow their business and the communities they serve.
In 2010, Calix China Development Center, "凯易讯," was funded in Nanjing Software Valley, located on Software Avenue, with convenient transportation. Calix CDC comprises nearly 300 professionals specializing in software and hardware development, testing, supply chain, and project management. Our team members hail from well-known companies in the IT and Internet industry. We collaborate with global teams to develop core products.

As a member of the global Automation Test team, you will participate in automation test platform development.

After interning with this team for over six months, you will:

• Gain engineering experience primarily in Python, LLM, Automation, etc.
• Deepen your understanding of the development environment and automation test.
• Improve your problem-solving and analytical skills
• Enhance your experience working in an English environment and collaborating with international teams

Internship Duration

• The internship can start immediately upon successful interview
• Work 3–5 days per week
• The internship period is 6 months or longer

Responsibilities

• Design and develop AI-powered tools that automate software testing activities.
• Build solutions leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) for the (Robot Framework) automation test script creation based on the existing test cases (text)
• Integrate AI capabilities into existing test automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop agent-based workflows using modern AI ecosystems such as LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, Semantic Kernel, or similar frameworks.
• Work with QA engineers to understand testing challenges and translate them into AI-driven solutions.
• Conduct experiments and prototype innovative AI applications that improve engineering productivity.
• Collect and analyze AI model performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with software engineers, test engineers, and product teams in an agile development environment.
• Prepare technical documentation and presentations to communicate project outcomes.

Qualifications

Education

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, or Master's degree in, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Software Engineering, Or a related technical discipline

Technical Skills

• Strong programming skills in one of following programing languages: Python, Go, C/C++, Jave .etc.
• Understanding of Machine Learning and Generative AI fundamentals.
• Experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Familiarity with prompt engineering and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG).
• Knowledge of software development best practices and version control systems (Git).
• Basic understanding of software testing and automation concepts.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.

Communication & Collaboration

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Self-motivated, eager to learn, and passionate about emerging AI technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with one or more of the following experiences will be highly preferred:

• Hands-on experience developing LLM-based applications.
• Experience with OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Gemma4, Anthropic Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, Qwen, Llama, or similar models.
• Familiarity with AI frameworks such as, LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, CrewAI, LlamaIndex
• Experience building AI Agents or multi-agent systems.
• Experience with RAG architectures and vector databases (FAISS, Chroma, Pinecone, Milvus, etc.).
• Familiarity with software test automation tools such as, Pytest, Robot Framework, Selenium, Playwright
• Participation in AI competitions, open-source projects, research projects, or published papers.
• Experience developing enterprise AI applications deployed in production environments.

Allowance

• 200-280 RMB per day, adjusted based on the internship stage and performance.
