Receiving Clerk
Location: Greenville, Michigan
Reports to: Shipping/Receiving Manager
Composition Brands, a well-established and respected producer of premier commercial refrigeration and ice products, is looking for a responsible and organized Receiving Clerk to join our warehouse and supply chain department. The role is pivotal to receiving, reviewing, and handling all incoming goods, materials and products in a timely and accurate fashion. The role also serves to maintain accurate inventory levels as well as supporting productive manufacturing activities.
As a Receiving Clerk, you will play a critical role in maintaining our reputation for quality and operational excellence. You will work closely with Suppliers, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Production teams to ensure incoming materials are received accurately, inspected thoroughly, and processed efficiently. By maintaining inventory accuracy, identifying and resolving receiving discrepancies, and ensuring materials are available when needed, you will help keep production running smoothly. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to safety and continuous improvement will contribute directly to the success of our manufacturing operations and the quality of our industry-leading refrigeration products.

Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. General hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00a.m. –3:30 p.m. plus overtime when required.
Position Overview:
Responsible for receiving, inspecting, verifying, and processing incoming materials while maintaining inventory accuracy and ensuring materials are delivered to the appropriate locations.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures the compliance of warehouse procedures and practices.
- Coordinates daily receiving schedules and priorities with Purchasing, Warehouse, and Production.
- Safely and efficiently unload inbound shipments from transport vendors using forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand carts.
- Verify all incoming shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and receiving documentation.
- Inspect incoming materials for damage, shortages, overages, and quality concerns.
- Utilize computer systems to receive inventory, locate material, enter, access, and retrieve data.
- Label and identify received materials according to company standards.
- Deliver received materials to designated warehouse, production, or office locations in a timely manner.
- Report discrepancies, damaged freight, or receiving issues to Purchasing and Warehouse Management.
- Maintain accurate receiving records and documentation.
- Work within company and OSHA safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: Basic computer knowledge required, demonstrated ability to use and operate hand tools, warehouse experience 3 years or more.
Other Requirements:
- High School Diploma with 2 years consecutive experience in Shipping & Receiving or Warehouse Operations.
- Familiar with receiving procedures, inventory transactions, and material flow.
- Successful completion of forklift driver certification per company policy.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability in basic mathematical computations required to complete receiving documents.
- Ability to lift weights up to 50 pounds from ground level to chest height.
- Demonstrated ability to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Experience with ERP systems such as INFOR or similar inventory software preferred.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Ability to work shifts and hours mandated by management and to pass a drug screen.
Working Conditions:
- Position is primarily warehouse based.
- Frequent use of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
- Exposure to warehouse traffic, varying temperatures, and manufacturing environments.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and material handling throughout the workday.
