Cabinet Vision Engineer
Location: Oceanside, CA
Our client is a leading architectural millwork company specializing in custom commercial casework, architectural woodwork, countertops, and finish carpentry. We partner with general contractors, architects, and designers to deliver high-quality millwork solutions for healthcare, hospitality, education, corporate interiors, multifamily, and other commercial construction projects throughout Southern California.
We are seeking a highly skilled Cabinet Vision Engineer to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced millwork professional who enjoys transforming architectural concepts into detailed manufacturing drawings while collaborating with project management, production, and installation teams.
Position Summary
The Cabinet Vision Engineer is responsible for producing accurate shop drawings, engineering custom millwork, programming projects within Cabinet Vision, and generating CNC-ready production information for fabrication. This position plays a critical role in ensuring projects move efficiently from design through manufacturing and installation while maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed shop drawings using Cabinet Vision software.
- Engineer custom architectural millwork, cabinetry, casework, countertops, and specialty woodwork.
- Create production-ready manufacturing drawings and CNC machining data.
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, and project documents.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Estimators, Production, and Installation teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Generate bills of materials (BOMs), cut lists, hardware schedules, and production reports.
- Ensure designs comply with AWI standards, project specifications, and company quality standards.
- Review field dimensions and incorporate revisions into engineering documents.
- Coordinate submittals and shop drawing revisions with clients and design teams.
- Assist with value engineering and fabrication solutions.
- Maintain engineering standards, templates, and Cabinet Vision libraries.
- Support manufacturing by resolving engineering questions and identifying efficient production methods.
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical support throughout fabrication and installation.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience engineering architectural millwork or commercial cabinetry.
- Advanced proficiency with Cabinet Vision software.
- Strong understanding of commercial millwork construction methods and fabrication.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Experience creating CNC-ready production files.
- Knowledge of woodworking materials, hardware, laminates, veneers, solid surfaces, and fabrication techniques.
- Familiarity with AWI Quality Standards preferred.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AutoCAD, Microvellum, or other CAD software.
- Knowledge of CNC manufacturing equipment and workflows.
- Experience in commercial healthcare, education, hospitality, corporate interiors, or institutional millwork.
- Understanding of commercial construction processes and sequencing.
- Experience coordinating with Project Managers, Architects, and General Contractors.
