JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Film Scheduling is a strategic leader responsible for driving box office performance across all US theater locations. This role connects the Film Department, Operations, Events, and theater leadership to maximize revenue, grow market share, and deliver exceptional value to guests.

JOB DUTIES

• Develop and execute film scheduling strategies that maximize box office performance across all theaters.
•  Analyze market trends, audience data, and historical performance to optimize film placement, scheduling, and screen allocation.
• Optimize showtimes, premium format utilization, and holdover strategies to maximize attendance and revenue.
• Identify opportunities for specialty, alternative, and mid-level titles to drive incremental attendance and revenue.
• Lead strategies to maximize advance ticket sales and increase market share.
•  Partner with the Film and Sales teams to expand alternative content, fan events, and specialty programming.
•  Evaluate programming opportunities to ensure incremental revenue without impacting core film performance.
• Coach General Managers and Regional Managers on film scheduling best practices.
• Partner with the Training team to develop scheduling playbooks, tools, and educational resources that standardize programming decisions across the circuit.
• Conduct regular programming reviews and provide data-driven recommendations to improve scheduling decisions and overall film performance.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Cinema Exhibition Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of progressive corporate or high-volume regional leadership experience strictly within the movie theater exhibition industry.
• Exhibition Software Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in enterprise cinema management software (e.g., Vista, Indy, Theatre Systems, or other such equivalents), with deep operational knowledge of automated scheduling modules and POS reporting.
• Advanced Analytics & Cinema P&L: Demonstrated ability to analyze box office grosses, drop-off percentages, and seating capacity utilization. Deep understanding of theater-level P&L metrics, specifically how showtime flow impacts concession Spend Per Head (Per Cap) and labor percentages.
• Internal Alignment Track Record: Proven experience working inside a theater chain’s corporate support structure, successfully balancing the competing priorities of film buyers, marketing teams, and field operators.
