At ZEISS, we focus on user-centric innovation to transform ideas into cutting-edge solutions. At the ZEISS Innovation Hub@KIT, we foster collaboration between students, researchers, entrepreneurs, and ZEISS employees to drive technological advancements.

Your Role

For our team of researchers and engineers, we seek a student to support our research and experiments on the characterization of thin films for inline metrology in battery manufacturing.

  • Develop and evaluate optical spectroscopy concepts for thin-film characterization with a focus on battery manufacturing processes

  • Design and perform experiments to measure and model optical properties of thin films for inline metrology

  • Analyze and process spectral data to assess measurement robustness for industrial use

  • Support the development and testing of prototype spectroscopy setups and inline metrology demonstrators

  • Research existing solutions related to optical thin-film metrology and adapt relevant approaches to our application

Your Profile

We are looking for you, ideally starting in October, for 6 months:

  • A bachelor’s degree and enrolled in a master’s program in mechanical/electrical engineering, optics & photonics, physics, or similar

  • Good understanding of the fundamentals of optics and electronics, ideally with a focus on measurement and sensing systems

  • Programming knowledge in at least one of the following: Python, C/C++, or CUDA
