MANAGER CLINICAL SPECIALIST, COMMAND CENTRE, FUTURE HEALTH INSTITUTE

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Clinical Specialist, Command Centre is responsible for supporting clinical-operational coordination, patient flow management, and clinical escalation activities across the KPJ Health System network.

The role acts as the clinical liaison within the Command Centre environment, supporting coordination between hospitals, clinical teams, nursing leadership, and operational teams to ensure safe, efficient, and timely patient care delivery. The position provides clinical operational insights to support real-time operational decision-making, patient safety monitoring, clinical escalation management, and healthcare operational optimisation.

The Clinical Specialist collaborates closely with Emergency Department teams, inpatient services, ICU teams, nursing leadership, Medical Directors, and hospital operational teams to support enterprise-wide clinical coordination and operational responsiveness across the KPJ hospital network.

The role also supports patient safety initiatives, operational escalation reviews, and clinical-operational improvement efforts within the Command Centre ecosystem.

JOB DESCRIPTION :

 1. Clinical-Operational Coordination

• Support real-time coordination between hospitals and clinical departments on patient flow and clinical operational matters.

• Monitor clinical-operational indicators including:

• ED waiting time

• Bed capacity

• ICU utilisation

• Patient transfer coordination

• Clinical escalation cases

• Support coordination of patient movement and escalation activities across hospitals.

• Collaborate with hospitals to address clinical-operational bottlenecks and patient flow challenges.

• Provide clinical operational input during operational escalation and command centre interventions.

 2. Patient Safety & Clinical Escalation Support

• Support monitoring of patient safety-related operational indicators and escalation risks.

• Assist in coordinating operational response during critical patient care situations and major incidents.

• Escalate clinical-operational risks and concerns to Command Centre leadership.

• Support post-incident operational and clinical reviews to identify improvement opportunities.

• Promote safe and efficient patient flow practices across hospitals.

 3. Clinical Operations Monitoring & Reporting

• Monitor clinical-operational dashboards and support interpretation of operational trends impacting patient care delivery.

• Assist in preparing clinical-operational reports and command centre updates.

• Support tracking of healthcare operational KPIs related to patient safety and patient throughput.

• Support data-driven operational improvement initiatives related to clinical operations.

 4. Stakeholder Collaboration

• Collaborate closely with Medical Directors, specialists, Medical Officers, nursing leadership, and hospital clinical teams.

• Support communication and coordination between clinical and operational teams during operational escalations.

• Participate in command centre operational reviews and healthcare operational improvement discussions.

• Support implementation of enterprise clinical-operational coordination initiatives.

JOB REQUIREMENT :

Education:

• Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent recognised medical qualification.

• Full registration with Malaysian Medical Council (MMC).

• Valid Annual Practising Certificate (APC).

Knowledge and Experiences:

• Minimum 3–5 years of clinical experience in hospital settings.

• Experience in Emergency Department, ICU, inpatient services, or hospital operations-related clinical environments is preferred.

• Good understanding of hospital patient flow and healthcare operational processes.

• Exposure to healthcare quality, patient safety, or operational coordination is an added advantage.

• Familiarity with hospital information systems and operational dashboards is preferred.
