Cat Digital seeks a seasoned Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead the Helios Platform Services India Team, building and scaling core platform capabilities that power Caterpillar’s digital ecosystem.

This senior leadership role combines people leadership, technical direction, and product strategy. You will drive delivery and evolution of enterprise-grade capabilities that help product teams move faster through reusable, secure, and scalable services.

You will partner with global engineering, product, architecture, and business leaders to accelerate Helios adoption and strengthen a reusable, API-driven engineering culture.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership and Delivery

• Lead multiple teams delivering domain and core services on Helios, Caterpillar’s largest data platform.
• Drive end-to-end delivery across design, development, deployment, and operations.
• Ensure platform services meet enterprise-grade standards for scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Own delivery commitments, roadmaps, and execution for the India-based teams.

Platform Strategy and Architecture

• Partner with product, architecture, and principal engineering leaders to define the Helios roadmap.
• Drive adoption of cloud-native architecture patterns, including microservices, APIs, and event-driven systems.
• Ensure services are built as reusable, standardized components aligned with design principles.
• Align platform services with enterprise architecture, security, and compliance requirements.

People Leadership and Organization Building

• Build, mentor, and scale high-performing teams, including engineering managers and senior engineers.
• Build a strong leadership bench and succession pipeline.
• Lead hiring, talent development, and performance management in line with Cat Digital standards.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and engineering excellence.

Operational Excellence and Quality

• Own platform reliability, availability, and operational health, including SLA/SLO adherence, observability, and incident management.
• Drive adoption of DevOps, CI/CD, and automated quality practices, including TDD and BDD.
• Institutionalize metrics-driven engineering across quality, velocity, stability, and customer impact.

Platform Adoption and Stakeholder Management

• Partner with product teams to accelerate onboarding and adoption.
• Partner with global stakeholders to prioritize platform investments and resolve cross-team dependencies.
• Act as a key bridge between India engineering teams and global Helios leadership.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

• Drive innovation in platform capabilities, including automation, AI enablement, and developer experience improvements.
• Identify opportunities to modernize legacy systems and improve operational efficiency.
• Champion a product mindset, with APIs treated as products and services owned across their lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

• 18+ years of experience in software engineering with significant exposure to platform or enterprise-scale systems
• 8+ years in engineering leadership roles managing multiple teams and managers
• Strong experience building and operating cloud-native platforms (AWS)
• Proven track record delivering shared services and platform services used by multiple products
• Deep understanding of Java, Spring Boot, microservices, APIs, distributed systems, DevOps, CI/CD, and automation.
• Experience leading large-scale, globally distributed teams.
• Strong understanding of AI models and their use in improving developer and business outcomes.
• Ability to normalize and contextualize data from diverse sources for real-time decision-making.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to drive cross-functional alignment.
• Demonstrated ability to define platform strategy, guide architectural decisions, and align engineering execution with business goals.
• Strong organizational design and talent development skills, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.

This position requires working onsite five days a week.
