Security Engineering Consultant – Akamai WAF/BotMan Specialist

Our client is seeking an experienced Security Engineering Consultant with deep expertise in Akamai Web Application Firewall (WAF) and Bot Manager Premier (BMP) technologies. This role focuses on enterprise WAF policy optimization, incident response, and continuous security improvement within a hybrid cloud environment.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Lead assessment, optimization, and continuous improvement of Akamai WAF policies and configurations
• Respond rapidly to critical security incidents, performing root cause analysis and remediation
• Manage day-to-day Akamai WAF operations including policy updates, tuning, and log analysis
• Collaborate with cloud, application, and security teams to align WAF/BMP configurations with business objectives
• Conduct periodic reviews of WAF logs, alerts, and security patterns; perform triage and investigation of security events
• Provide expert guidance on integrating Akamai WAF solutions in hybrid cloud environments and ensure adherence to enterprise security standards
• Assist with knowledge transfer, documentation of WAF policies, and best practices

Requirements

• 10–15 years of hands-on information security experience with strong expertise in Akamai WAF and Bot Manager Premier
• Advanced knowledge of web application security, OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities, and enterprise WAF management
• Proven experience with incident response, security alert triage, and log analysis in high-volume environments
• Proficiency with SIEM integration and AWS cloud network architectures
• Strong understanding of enterprise security standards and regulatory compliance requirements
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams
• Self-motivated consultant with the ability to work independently and drive continuous improvement initiatives
