About Ummeed:
Ummeed, a premier non-profit organization working with children with disabilities and their families in India. The organization supports children with developmental disabilities to reach their maximum potential and be included in society.
India has over 50 million children with disabilities. With access to appropriate health, intervention, education, recreation, and livelihood services they can be supported to become participative members of society. Today most of them have limited or no access to relevant knowledge and services as the number of organizations and professionals in the space are inadequate to meet the need.
Over the past 25 years, Ummeed has provided direct clinical services to 16,400+ children and families, trained over 14,600 unique professionals (community workers, doctors, therapists, and teachers) across India, and influenced the lives of over 0.73 million children and families with or at risk of developmental disabilities. In addition to direct clinical services, training, and capacity building, Ummeed’s conducts research in the field of child development, and builds awareness to sensitize people to the cause and shift attitudes towards disability and inclusion. As Ummeed looks to the future, its goal is to build on this past work to drive strategic shifts across three key ecosystems – Healthcare, Schools, and Early Childhood Development – to create a more inclusive society for children with and at high likelihood of disabilities in India.
About the Position
The Social Media Executive as part of Ummeed’s Communications and Awareness team, would provide support with day-to-day communication requirements such as developing flyers and other communication materials, drafting copy, social media planning and execution, and brainstorming ideas for campaigns and content. They would also support the coordination and execution of digital campaigns, including paid promotions and performance tracking.
Some Key Responsibilities include:
1. Content Creation and Creative Development
- Supporting the development of copy for social media posts, captions, flyers and other communication materials.
- Brainstorming ideas for campaigns, reels and digital content that help bring Ummeed’s work to a wider audience.
- Shooting short videos and reels on a mobile phone and carrying out basic video editing.
- Creating social media creatives and designs using Canva.
- Working closely with the designer and internal teams to develop and publish content.
2. Social Media Management and Digital Marketing
- Planning, scheduling and managing content across social media platforms.
- Supporting the planning and execution of digital campaigns, including paid promotions on Meta and Google.
- Tracking social media performance and preparing basic reports.
3. Campaign, Communication and Project Coordination
- Supporting the planning and execution of campaigns, events and other communication initiatives.
- Coordinating communication projects, managing timelines and following up on tasks, approvals and deliverables.
- Coordinating with internal teams and external partners to ensure the timely completion of projects.
Minimum qualifications & experience required:
We are looking for a committed and creative professional with 2 to 3 years of experience in social media, communications, digital marketing, or a related field.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) work-from-office role based in Mumbai. Salary will be commensurate with the role, qualifications, and experience.
Reporting to: Manager – Communications
Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi.
- Good copywriting skills, creativity and an eye for detail.
- Ability to shoot and edit basic videos and reels using a mobile phone.
- Familiarity with Canva and the ability to create designs independently.
- Understanding of social media platforms, trends and content formats.
- Basic knowledge of Meta Ads Manager and Google Ads.
- Good coordination, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines while working collaboratively with different teams.
- Sensitivity towards communicating about children, families and developmental disabilities, with a willingness to learn about Ummeed’s work and approach.
