What you'll do...

Role summary:
As a Data Science Intern on the Last Mile team, you will work on data-driven problems that directly impact Walmart’s delivery experience and operational performance. You will partner with Data Scientists, Analysts, and business stakeholders to analyze large-scale data, identify opportunities, and develop insights that help improve Last Mile operations.  This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience applying data science, analytics, simulation, optimization, and AI to real-world business problems at scale. 
About the team:
The team specializes in applying data analytics and advanced modeling to optimize Last Mile operations. Working closely with data scientists, engineers, and business partners, the team creates solutions that enhance operational efficiency and customer experience. Members analyze large datasets, develop simulation and machine learning models, and build dashboards to support data-driven decisions. The environment promotes continuous learning, innovation, and clear communication of insights to various stakeholders. The team maintains strong integrity, accountability, and collaboration to deliver meaningful business outcomes aligned with Walmart’s values and objectives.
What you'll do:

• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, opportunities, and operational gaps across Last Mile.
• Develop and apply simulation and optimization models to identify opportunities to improve Last Mile operational efficiency.
• Perform exploratory analysis and root-cause analysis on key operational performance metrics.
• Develop dashboards, metrics, and analytical solutions to support data-driven decision-making.
• Build and evaluate statistical or machine learning models to solve complex business problems.
• Partner with Data Scientists, Engineers, and business teams to translate business problems into analytical solutions.
• Contribute to automation and AI-driven solutions that improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
• Communicate analytical findings, insights, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The hourly wage range for this position is $21.00 - $40.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.
