Data Compression Research Engineer

Contribute to the conception, development, implementation, and optimization of new algorithms delivering improved compression, both lossy and lossless, for various data sources and formats. Manage design trade-offs between compression performance and hardware complexity. Participate in the design and implementation of the next generation of Snapdragon solutions. Collaborate with global technology teams to collect and understand compression needs to define codec tool requirements. Industry or academic experience required in one or more of the following areas: digital signal processing, image/video processing, image/video compression or information theory. Knowledge of quantitatively assessing hardware implementation requirements of algorithms preferred. Record of innovation: publications or granted patents in the areas of data compression, including video and image coding, digital signal processing, or information theory. Proficiency in programming and debugging using C/C++, Python, and MATLAB. Strong written and verbal English communication skills, great work ethic, and ability to work in a team environment to accomplish common goals. PhD or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or similar fields. 1+ years of experience with programming language such as C, C++, Python, MATLAB, etc. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience. OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or related field.
