Duties and Responsibilities:
Opens center at designated hours, greets visitors and invites visitors to engage with kiosks, interacts, and assists visitors using kiosks and other audio/visual components
Checks kiosks, ensure they are operating correctly, and submits tickets for repair as needed
Conducts tours and assists with educational presentations for students, visitors, and community groups
Answers telephones and processes voice mail messages; responds to general questions regarding the Center and services offered by Bexar County
Monitors activities and reports any behaviors that violate center guidelines
Closes center at designated hours and notifies visitors of respective time of closing; closes out center as per procedures
Assists other staff members with displays, signage, and other exhibit duties; assist with location set-up and breakdown at scheduled community events
Assists with ordering and maintaining supplies, assisting with receiving and checking in deliveries
Performs light internet research and helps with the development and installation of historical and educational displays for the public
Maintains the center reservation schedule
Performs other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate and one (1) year of customer service experience
Knowledge of general office procedures
Skill in providing customer service
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, ability to effectively communicate and respond to customer inquiries and complaints
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, County employees, and the general public
Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
Working Environment and Physical Demands:
Generally works indoors
Occasionally gives tours and greets visitors outdoors
Occasionally moves items weighing up to 15 pounds
Occasionally moves about the office
Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
Positions self to perform essential functions
Must be able to remain in a stationary position
