Job Purpose
The successful candidate will supplement the skillset and strengthen the existing SLR Africa Mine Waste and Geotechnical Engineering teams by leading and delivering geotechnical investigations, analyses and engineering assessments for mining, civil infrastructure and industrial projects.
Minimum requirements /Qualification
BEng / BSc Eng
A Senior Geotechnical Engineer with 5-10 years of consulting experience
Experience in planning, supervising and undertaking geotechnical site investigations.
Must be willing to travel (locally and internationally) and go to site. And prepared to undertake geotechnical site investigations
Undertake geotechnical logging and profiling
Must have understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical data analyses experience
Proficient in Word, Excel and industry software such as Geo-Slope/Rocscience
Valid driver's license
Professionally registered with ECSA (PrEng) would be an advantage
Key Responsibilities
Supervising and undertaking geotechnical site investigations
Assessment and interpretation of field investigations and laboratory testing data.
Basic geotechnical analyses (foundation design and settlement analysis, slope stability analysis, retaining structure assessment, earthworks design)
Preparation of factual and interpretive geotechnical reports; and geotechnical design reports.
Provide technical support during project planning, design and construction phases.
Taking an active lead in the development and mentoring of junior staff, specific to technical geotechnical aspects
Assist with proposal preparation, business development and client relationship management.
