Position Summary
State Street is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Vice President (AVP), Business Systems Analyst to join the Hangzhou-based IMSWest Remediation Program. This role will be responsible for partnering with external clients, global business users, technology teams, production support, architecture, operations, and remediation stakeholders to analyze business demand, shape solution design, and ensure consistent delivery of remediation solutions that improve platform stability, controls effectiveness, operational resilience, and client experience.
The successful candidate will operate in a client- and user-facing capacity, bridging business needs with IT delivery teams from brainstorming and prototyping through development, testing, implementation, and production support. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong Business Analyst who enjoys working across business and technology teams, solving complex workflow and data challenges, and helping deliver one of State Street's strategic technology transformation programs.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Solution Design
- Partner with external clients and internal business users across regions to understand, analyze, and document business needs, pain points, and remediation objectives.
- Analyze business workflows, data flows, operating models, control gaps, and end-to-end scenarios to identify solution options and process improvements.
- Translate business demand into clear, actionable functional requirements, process flows, wireframes, and data mapping artifacts.
- Proactively review existing business models and future-state processes to ensure practical, scalable, and control-oriented solutions.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication
- Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, using both business and technical language to drive shared understanding and decision-making.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external counterparties, including global technology, business, operations, production support, and risk/control stakeholders.
- Communicate project status, requirement decisions, risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans clearly and proactively.
- Facilitate workshops, walkthroughs, requirement review sessions, and user education activities as needed.
Controls, Risk & Operational Resilience
- Contribute to remediation initiatives addressing stability concerns, operational risks, control gaps, audit findings, and recurring production issues.
- Ensure requirements and solution designs consider regulatory expectations, control effectiveness, operational resilience, data quality, and production supportability.
- Identify, resolve, or escalate issues, risks, dependencies, and requirement gaps throughout the development lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in a Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Product Owner, or similar analyst role within software development, financial services, data research, or technology delivery environments.
- Strong financial product knowledge and ability to understand financial industry workflows, operating models, and business scenarios.
- Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and experience working with IT development teams in Waterfall/Agile/Scrum environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and structured thinking skills, with the ability to break down complex business problems into clear requirements and solution options.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills and confidence working with global stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to drive work forward with minimal supervision.
- Strong time management, organization, and multi-tasking ability to manage competing project priorities.
- Strong self-learning capability and enthusiasm for working in a collaborative, team-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Major in Finance, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a combination of finance and technology disciplines.
- CFA charterholder or candidate who has passed CFA Level I examination
