Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Supervision: Supervise, mentor, and evaluate surgical nurses, surgical technologists, sterile processing technicians, and perioperative support staff.
- Talent Acquisition & Development: Oversee hiring, onboarding, and continuous professional education to maintain high clinical standards and staff retention.
- Operating Room Efficiency: Coordinate daily surgical room assignments, block times, and workflow efficiency to optimize suite utilization and minimize turnover delays.
- Financial Oversight: Manage departmental budget performance, supply chain/inventory purchasing, equipment maintenance, and strategic resource allocation.
- Regulatory Adherence: Ensure strict compliance with healthcare regulations, Joint Commission standards, infection control protocols, and sterile processing procedures.
- Continuous Quality Improvement: Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, infection rates, and perioperative safety protocols.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications:
- Nursing Licensure: Active, unrestricted State Registered Nurse (RN) License [Required].
- Life Support Certification: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) [Required].
- Advanced Degree: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s degree (MSN/MHA/MBA) [Preferred].
- OR Director Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Director of Surgical Services / Director of OR in an acute care hospital setting [Required].
- Clinical Mastery: Deep operational domain knowledge in perioperative nursing, surgical tech workflows, and sterile processing oversight.
- Setting: Surgical Services / Perioperative Suite.
