Description

The City of Pasadena is currently seeking a Career Services Case Worker who maintains and tracks client profiles, provides guidance and information related to various career services, maintains a heavy caseload, audits participant files regarding eligibility and right to work, and performs related work as assigned. 

This is a limited term/grant funded position with current and continued employment dependent on available funding.

The ideal candidate will have recent case management experience with a career services focus providing direct client support to individuals in need of employment and/or training opportunities.

1. Manages front end of State Workforce Development System (CalJOBS); maintains and tracks client profiles; manages client program services.

2. Conducts client intake and assessment, evaluating the client's needs and resources related to career services.

3. Verifies and documents a variety of information required by program guidelines.

4. Interprets and explains rules and regulations, policies and procedures; provides information on available career services; counsels applicants and program participants on program rules and regulations.

5. Audits participant files regarding eligibility and right to work.

6. Screens and direct calls; relays messages; makes appointments; registers clients into State Workforce Development System (CalJOBS) and/or other data tracking systems; verifies client activities into State Workforce Development System (CalJOBS) and/or other data tracking systems, and provides information to clients and partners.

7. Presents, trains, and facilitates workshops for public, staff, and partners.

8. Prepares a variety of correspondence, reports and statistical information; maintains accurate case files; prepares clear and concise narrative reports regarding assigned cases.

9. Develop and assists in implementing on-going client service plans.

10. Maintain case records and required reporting documentation.

11. Serve as a liaison and advocate for individuals seeking employment.

12. Document client contacts and follow-up activities.

13. Participate in case conferences and case reviews.

14. Facilitate referrals to a variety of agencies.COMPETENCIES

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent
  • Four years of experience providing case management and/or related career services.
  • Experience in a public agency is preferred. 
  • An Associate's degree and workforce development experience is desirable. 
SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process may consist of a training and experience evaluation, written test, interview panel, and/or department-level interviews.

VACANCY INFORMATION
There is currently one limited term/grant funded vacancy in the Career Services Division of the City Manager's Department.

The resulting eligibility list from this recruitment may be used to fill this vacancy and similar vacancies in the future.

Candidates selected for this position are subject to a one year probationary work period.Must possess a valid California Class C driver's license and comply with the City's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy during the course of employment.
