The Opportunity
Our location in North Chicago currently has an opportunity for a Principal Specialist EHS & Projects. The Principal Specialist EHS & Project is responsible for the EHS strategy and executes contingency independent plans and conducts assigned projects.

What You’ll Work On
- Lead and continuously improve site EHS programs and compliance systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and corporate EHS requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments, audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
- Develop and implement EHS strategies, metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage regulatory inspections, audits, and external EHS relationships.
- Lead capital and facilities projects from planning through execution and completion.
- Define DC project scope, budgets, schedules, and resource requirements.
- Manage multiple projects while meeting safety, quality, cost, and timeline objectives.
- Develop capital requests, project documentation, and contractor scopes of work.
- Coordinate internal teams, contractors, consultants, and vendors.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation and contingency plans.
- Provide technical oversight to support operational efficiency and business growth.
- Lead, coach, and develop site staff while fostering a culture of safety and accountability.
- Drive employee engagement, training, recognition, and development initiatives.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration and strong stakeholder partnerships.
- Serve as the site's EHS subject matter expert, providing technical guidance and best practices.
- Develop procedures, standards, and training programs to support operational excellence.
- Communicate EHS and project performance, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
- Represent the organization with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and external stakeholders.
- Provide strategic analysis and recommendations to support business objectives.
Required Qualification’s
- Bachelor’s Degree in EHS, Occupational Health, Engineering, science, nursing or closely related discipline is desired.
- Minimum 8 years Significant EHS and / or operational experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- A post-graduate education / degree is desired.
- Professional certification is highly desirable.
