Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Hardware Engineer based in Farmington Hills, MI.

Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, the Hardware Engineer is responsible for sketch‑to‑scale electrical design of automotive products, including specifications, component selection, circuit design, verification testing, and ensuring the development process is properly followed.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:

  • Provide technical leadership and design expertise by leading electrical engineers while also contributing directly as a hands‑on individual contributor in the development of complex automotive electronic systems.

  • Collaborate frequently with customers, engineering teams, and cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure all aspects of the design converge seamlessly.

  • Generate, review, and approve engineering documentation required across all design phases.

  • Design products using sound engineering principles. Apply best practices, lessons learned, and innovative design techniques to deliver reliable, high‑quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations.

  • Strive to simplify designs to ensure manufacturability, mistake‑proofing, and robustness. Anticipate sources of variation and design for maximum reliability. Incorporate environmentally friendly design practices where possible.

  • Lead hardware design verification planning and execution, perform verification activities, prepare clear and professional technical reports, drive necessary design changes based on findings, and thoroughly document all development activities supporting program execution while maintaining an organized and traceable documentation system.

  • Develop, codevelop, and maintain DFMEA documentation. Perform circuit simulations and utilize additional analysis tools as required, including worst‑case analyses.

  • Develop and/or codevelop engineering test fixtures to effectively evaluate product functionality and performance.

  • Support production site activities, including failure analysis, design improvements, and resolution of quality issues driven by customer and manufacturing feedback.

Here is some of what you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering discipline.

  • 5+ years of board level design engineering experience within the automotive industry.

  • Extensive experience designing highly complex electrical systems incorporating power, analog, and digital domains.

  • Strong knowledge of high‑speed digital design (e.g., high performance automotive compute, infotainment, connectivity systems).

  • Strong knowledge of SI/PI best practices

  • Familiarity with automotive reliability requirements and component selection for automotive electronics.

  • Solid understanding of EMI/EMC principles, automotive EMC requirements, and best practices.

  • Experience performing worst‑case circuit analysis

  • Proficiency with Cadence electrical design tools (System Capture, CIS).

  • Proficiency with circuit simulation tools such as PSpice and LTspice.

Here are a few of our preferred experiences:

  • Experience in ADAS product development across various levels of vehicle autonomy.

  • Understanding of and hands‑on experience with Functional Safety (ISO 26262) aspects of automotive products.

What you'll receive for the great work you provide:

  • Full range of medical, dental, and vision plans
  • Life Insurance
  • Short-term and Long-term Disability
  • Matching 401(k) Contributions
  • Vacation and Paid Sick Time
  • Tuition Reimbursement
