The Facilities Maintenance Technician supports safe and reliable manufacturing operations by inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining facility systems, building infrastructure, and auxiliary equipment. This role helps maintain operational uptime, workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement through preventive maintenance, timely repairs, accurate documentation, and cross-functional partnership with Maintenance, Safety, Operations, Engineering, and Quality teams.
Requirements
1. Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on facility systems, building infrastructure, and auxiliary equipment, including vacuum pumps, air compressors, chillers, AC/HVAC units, blower motors, fans, water treatment systems, plumbing, lighting, doors, fixtures, and general building systems.
2. Monitor equipment performance, pressure, temperature, airflow, water flow, operating conditions, equipment wear, leaks, and potential failure points.
3. Complete lubrication, filter changes, belt inspections, component replacements, minor plumbing repairs, lighting repairs, and general facility repairs as assigned.
4. Respond promptly to maintenance requests, equipment alarms, breakdowns, and urgent facility needs to support uptime, reliability, housekeeping, and safe operating conditions.
5. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility systems and production support equipment in accordance with work orders, maintenance schedules, and supervisor direction.
6. Assist with equipment installation, relocation, setup, and minor facility improvement projects.
7. Coordinate repairs and support activities with Operations and Maintenance teams to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
8. Follow all company safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, PPE requirements, and plant rules while performing maintenance work.
9. Identify, report, and help correct unsafe conditions, facility hazards, equipment concerns, and repair needs.
10. Support safety inspections, emergency response needs, and corrective actions related to facility maintenance items.
11. Work cross-functionally with Maintenance, Safety, Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams to resolve recurring facility or equipment concerns.
12. Participate in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action follow-through for facility and auxiliary equipment issues.
13. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, cost reduction, housekeeping, and operational efficiency.
14. Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection checklists, work orders, parts usage, equipment history, and preventive maintenance records.
15. Track recurring repair needs, completed corrective actions, and follow-up items related to facility systems.
16. Provide timely updates and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor regarding maintenance status, safety concerns, equipment needs, and facility priorities.
17. Work with external contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance, repairs, inspections, parts, and system upgrades.
18. Assist with coordinating service schedules, escorting contractors, communicating site requirements, and verifying work completion.
19. Ensure contracted work is completed safely, on time, and in accordance with company standards and facility requirements.
20. Perform other duties as required.
Required Skills/Experience: High school diploma or GED required. Prior facilities maintenance, industrial maintenance, building maintenance, or related manufacturing maintenance experience required. Basic mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and facility repair knowledge required. Ability to troubleshoot facility systems and auxiliary equipment using safe work practices and available standards. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Ability to complete maintenance documentation, work orders, checklists, and reports accurately. Proficient basic computer skills required for maintenance records and communication. Must be able to follow safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, PPE requirements, and plant rules.
Preferred Skills/Experience: Technical school, trade certification, or related maintenance training preferred. Experience with HVAC, chillers, air compressors, vacuum pumps, water treatment systems, or other facility support systems preferred. Manufacturing environment experience preferred. Forklift, scissor lift, or aerial lift certification preferred. Bilingual English and Spanish skills preferred.
