Information Technology Intern (Unpaid Intern)

ORANGE COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT
The Orange County Sheriff-Coroner's Department is a modern, progressive law enforcement agency dedicated to protecting the peace and enhancing the quality of life for everyone in the County of Orange. The Department provides primary police services to 700,000 residents of 12 cities, the unincorporated areas of Orange County, as well as security for John Wayne Airport, harbors and coastline, public transportation, and courts.
The Technology Division is accountable for the IT-related activity for approximately 4,000 employees and more than 320 law enforcement applications.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Interns may provide staff support with the following projects:
- Set up and maintenance of computers and peripherals.
- Set up and maintenance of network infrastructure.
- Set up and maintenance of security infrastructure.
- Assistance with application development and application support.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or trade school and have an emphasis in computer science, information technology, or a related field; or be a recent graduate (within 6 months) who has completed their degree or certification in one of the above fields of study.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must demonstrate knowledge in their chosen field of study ranging from programming, desktop support, infrastructure, networking, or security. Applicants will be considered and placed with respective teams based on the needs of the department and learning opportunities for the applicant.
TIME COMMITMENT
Minimum 8 hours per week, in-person. Hours must be scheduled in 3- to 8-hour blocks of time during regular business hours (Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.).
