The Opportunity
PCI stands at an important point in its evolution, with opportunities to expand industry influence, strengthen member value, and advance innovation and sustainability across the built environment. The next President and CEO will build upon a strong foundation while shaping the future direction of an organization that plays a pivotal role in North American construction.


Summary
The President and CEO directs all aspects of the Institute's operations, programs, finances, and business affairs. Reporting to the Board of Directors through the Executive Committee, the President and CEO serves as the principal liaison between PCI's volunteer leadership and professional staff, ensuring alignment between governance priorities and organizational execution. The President and CEO also serves as a voting member of the Executive Committee and as an ex-officio member of the PCI Foundation Board. PCI seeks a visionary and collaborative executive who will advance the Institute's mission, strengthen member engagement, expand industry influence, and position PCI for continued growth and impact.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Board of Directors and Executive Committee to develop and execute PCI's strategic vision, goals, policies, budgets, and priorities.
  • Provide leadership and management of the Institute's operations, staff, programs, and services.
  • Ensure sound fiscal stewardship, financial stability, regulatory compliance, and effective management of Institute assets.
  • Recruit, develop, motivate, and retain a high-performing professional staff.
  • Strengthen relationships with members, chapters, affiliates, allied organizations, and industry partners.
  • Serve as the chief spokesperson and ambassador for PCI, cultivating strategic partnerships with industry organizations, government agencies, and academic institutions.
  • Advance member value through education, certification, research, advocacy, and market development initiatives.
  • Enhance PCI's reputation as the premier technical authority and trade association for the precast, prestressed concrete industry.
  • Anticipate industry trends, emerging technologies, and market shifts to keep PCI and its members ahead of change.

Qualifications

  • 10–15+ years of executive leadership experience with responsibility for organizational strategy, operations, finances, and staff management.
  • Experience in association management, trade associations, professional societies, or related membership-based organizations.
  • Proven success working with boards of directors, volunteer leadership, and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experience leading high-performing teams and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, inclusiveness, and service.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience overseeing budgets, business operations, and organizational resources.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, including the ability to present with credibility, lead by influence, and successfully navigate conflict and compromise.
  • Knowledge of construction, building materials, engineering, manufacturing, or related industries is highly desirable.
  • A strategic and visionary leader who builds consensus, drives innovation, exercises sound business judgment, and delivers exceptional value to members, volunteers, and industry partners.

Education
Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced degree and/or Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.

Travel:
Approximately 30% but may be more within the first year.

Compensation:
Base salary range: $325,000 – $375,000 plus bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package.

Location:
This position is based in Chicago, Illinois. When not traveling, the President and CEO is expected to be in the office.
