- Conduct comprehensive background investigations on sworn and non-sworn applicants of the Sheriff's Office
- Conduct interviews of applicants and their references
- Maintain records, files, and supporting documentation for each investigation
- Analyzes information resulting from investigative activities to prepare written background investigation reports

Sheriff’s Personnel Unit will assess your application to determine if you are minimally qualified using the following recommendations. Any combination of the required experience, education, and training that would provide the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.Must have successfully completed a California POST Basic Law Enforcement Academy and possess a current California POST Certificate.
- Ideal candidates will minimally possess a California POST Basic Certificate, which is obtained after completion of a probationary period in a California POST recognized agency.

After screening, qualified candidates will be referred to the next step and notified of all further procedures applicable to their status in the recruitment process. Training and Experience Review (Weighted 100%): A training and experience review consists of candidates responding to supplemental questions on the job application.
