Position Overview
SMI Security is seeking a professional, dependable, and compassionate Security Officer to provide security services at a respected senior living community in Pompano Beach.
The Security Officer will play an important role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors during the overnight hours. The ideal candidate understands the importance of working around senior residents and is able to respond to emergencies with professionalism, patience, and good judgment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a visible security presence throughout the community.
- Conduct routine patrols of hallways, common areas, entrances, and designated areas.
- Monitor the property for safety and security concerns.
- Respond promptly and professionally to emergency situations and requests for assistance.
- Assist with emergency procedures and immediately notify the appropriate personnel when needed.
- Monitor residents, visitors, and activity within the community while respecting resident privacy and dignity.
- Check designated doors and access points to ensure the facility is properly secured.
- Unlock and secure designated areas according to the community's established schedule and procedures.
- Ensure common areas and other designated spaces are secure during overnight hours.
- Monitor for unauthorized persons, suspicious activity, hazards, or unusual conditions.
- Complete accurate daily activity reports and incident reports.
- Communicate any safety, security, maintenance, or resident-related concerns to the appropriate community personnel.
- Follow all SMI Security policies, site-specific post orders, and client procedures.
- Maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and positive customer-service attitude at all times.
Qualifications:
- Valid Florida Class D Security License.
- Previous security experience preferred.
- Experience working in senior living, assisted living, healthcare, residential, or hospitality environments is a plus.
- Strong communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during emergencies.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently during overnight hours.
- Must be comfortable conducting routine foot patrols throughout the facility.
- Must be able to document incidents and daily activities accurately.
- Professional appearance and respectful attitude toward senior residents are required.

This position requires an individual who understands that working in a senior living community requires more than providing security. The officer must be patient, respectful, observant, and responsive while helping maintain a safe environment for residents and staff.
