Key Responsibilities:

As a Quality Management Office (QMO) Auditor at Micron Technology you will be responsible for preparing, supporting, and conducting internal audits to provide risk-based advice and insight to Micron’s global processes. The intent is to protect and enhance organizational value while protecting the Micron brand and the customer perspective of quality.

Ultimately your responsibility is to gather and evaluate the information related to the overall quality management system, summarize and report findings to management which includes costs incurred when requirements are not clear or not met. The data you collect will enable all critical processes to maintain compliance with company policies, regulatory and statutory requirements, and any customer requirements and applicable industry Standards.

You will work with Micron departments and leaders to develop schedules, review documents and procedures. You will complete audit interviews and take evidentiary samples as defined in the audit project plan. You will analyze issues and identify control weaknesses. You will provide formal written reports that communicate project results and provide advisement as opportunities for improvement to management.

Other duties include hosting or supporting external quality audits (customer and certification), contributing to the maintenance of the Micron Quality System, to interpret and become a subject-matter expert in all internal and external requirements, to participate in improvement projects, and other supporting activities to resolve non-conforming conditions. You will be expected to maintain a working knowledge of quality systems, methods, and processes to support in audits and assist Micron be more effective and efficient, while still maintaining compliance to external requirements.

As a QMO Auditor you will have opportunities to utilize your strong auditing skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization to solve problems and implement sustainable solutions. You will gain a broad perspective of Micron’s business by working on a variety of assignments across a global organization to analyze issues and make well-reasoned recommendations on assigned tasks. You will also leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve efficiency by simplifying audit processes, enhancing data analysis, standardizing audit documentation, and strengthening QMS effectiveness.

Responsibilities and Duties include, but not limited to:

Plan Audit, Objectives and Schedule

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the Internal Audit Schedule (System, Process, and Product Audits), the Customer Audit, and Certification Audit schedule.
  • Gather information from production, service, development and supporting activities and perform assessments to identify risk areas to be focused on during the audits.
  • Analyze department business process systems and previous audit information from multiple sources.
  • Lead Auditor: assist with audit team selection and audit plan preparation for internal audits.
  • Represent the audit team with management of the audited area, with customers and certification body.

Conduct Audits

  • Perform internal quality audits (System, Process, Product Audits, and special audits as required by the organization) and identify value added non-conformity, strengths, and opportunities for improvement to achieve project objectives and adequately mitigate risk.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to drive efficiency and effectiveness, protect company assets and shareholder value, and maintain compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Lead or support special audits required by management upon need/request.
  • Analyze findings and summarize them for presentation.
  • Facilitate the Closing Meeting with management to review and interpret results against the final objectives to enable the organization to improve processes.
  • Assist, when needed, the root-cause analysis and appropriate action plans to solve non-conformities.
  • Follow up on audits to ensure that solutions/actions are implemented to fulfill the requirements and avoid recurrence.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship and collaboration with management, audit team members, and other key partners.
  • Effectively and succinctly communicate project results and recommendations into assigned project managers.

Host External Audits

  • Coordinate the audit schedule with the greater QMO team and affected business process teams.
  • Help in preparation, including the manufacturing/laboratory line tours and coaching sessions, when needed.
  • Participate in the audit on-site.
  • Facilitate the Closing Meeting to review and interpret results with management.
  • Support post-audit follow-up as needed for determination of action plan to solve non-conformities.
  • Ensure the follow-up on audits to enable solutions/actions that once implemented fulfill the requirements and avoid recurrence.
  • Analyze findings and summarize them for presentation or report with the final objective to enable the organization to improve processes.
  • Participate as the auditee for the "Manage Quality Audit" business process, as needed.
  • Support Improvement of the Quality Management System through assessment and sharing of best practices and participating in improvement projects.
  • Maintain personal knowledge and awareness of required auditor skills and competencies.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills include, but not limited to:

  • Prior experience in internal, customer, and/or certification audits.
  • Awareness/experience of internal audit standards frameworks and certification rules
  • Understanding or experience using ISO9001 and IATF 16949 certification rules.
  • Excellent organizational and management skills, and outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working with all levels within the organization.
  • Experience and ability to collaborate within team and with cross-functional teams to understand needs and translate them into actionable plans, deliverables, and resource requirements.
  • Flexibility and ability to work under tight timeframes and prioritize competing activities
  • Good multi-tasking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to complete assignments on time with minimum supervision.
  • Understanding of how to find and assess applicable customer requirements.
  • Ambitious, focused, dedicated and a self-starter with business insight
  • Able and eager to learn and apply new skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Desired Education and Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in auditing in the manufacturing industry, preferably semiconductors
  • BS in Engineering, Business and/or related field or equivalent proven, practical experience
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems, Business Process Systems, and the process approach for auditing, including risk-based thinking.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949 (Certified Lead Auditor desired), Core Tools (FMEA, SPC, APQP, PPAP, MSA, 8D)
  • Knowledge of VDA 6.3, ASPICE
  • Passion for teamwork, continual improvement, and lots of change.
  • Fluent in English
  • Domestic and International travel required as needed, up to 25%.
