Senior Risk Analyst
• Inform key risk and business decisions through data-driven insights and analysis
• Hybrid working + modern Britomart offices + flexible arrangements that support life outside work
• Join a collaborative, high-performing team and grow your career in Risk Analytics
Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Data might be your starting point, but applying expertise and judgement to explain the story behind the numbers is where this role makes its impact.
As a Senior Risk Analyst within our Portfolio Insights team, you'll help shape how Westpac understands and manages credit risk by transforming complex data into meaningful insights for senior leaders. Working across areas such as portfolio performance, Expected Credit Loss (ECL) and Risk Weighted Assets (RWA), you'll uncover trends, solve complex problems and provide recommendations that support key business decisions.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys diving deep into data, asking thoughtful questions and connecting the dots to tell a compelling story. You'll lead complex analytical work, partner with stakeholders across Risk, Finance and the wider business, and contribute to continuous improvements that strengthen the quality, efficiency and impact of our reporting and insights.
You'll be joining a close-knit and supportive team that values collaboration, curiosity and learning. While monthly deliverables create a regular rhythm, no two months are the same, with new challenges, projects and opportunities to influence outcomes across the bank.
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
• Significant experience in risk analytics, banking, finance, data analytics or a similarly complex analytical environment.
• Advanced SAS and/or SQL skills, with the ability to interrogate, manipulate and analyse large datasets.
• Strong analytical, forecasting and problem-solving capability, with the confidence to navigate ambiguity and deliver practical recommendations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex information into meaningful business insights.
• Experience influencing outcomes, driving continuous improvement, or leading analytical initiatives.
• A naturally curious mindset with a willingness to ask questions, collaborate with others and continuously learn.
• Experience with Power BI or data visualisation tools will be highly regarded.
