A Shift (United States of America)Applicants will be considered for Project Crew mechanic openings. The Project Crew mechanic will perform all maintenance activities on the plant site, including custom fabrication of parts/equipment, repairs to equipment and the ability to troubleshoot all plant equipment with minimum possible down time occurring; maintain cattle holding areas, flotation cells, shop equipment, pumps and piping systems; fabricate ergonomic related equipment and new trolley baskets; assist with infrared inspections of plant electrical equipment, annual hoist and overhead inspections, and maintain all plant access platforms per OSHA standards; Installation of conduit and wiring to various equipment to include: VRD’s, field disconnects, control circuits and motor terminations; install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic system; install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot variable frequency drives, high and low voltage motors and basic electrical circuits. Must be willing to stand, walk, bend, stretch, climb, push, pull and reach; includes the use of ladders. These positions will work in a cold damp to hot, humid environment and slippery surfaces; work schedule is primarily daytime hours and weekends. Friday through Monday.
Requirements:
The successful candidate(s)must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation. Applicants must have an extensive background in mechanical systems including, chain drives, V-belt drives, direct and indirect drive systems; all types of conveying systems including rubber, Intralox belting systems, augers, variable speed drives and gear box reducers; must have experience with welding and cutting; welding using an oxy-acetylene cutting torch; use of power tools and shop equipment; be willing to lift, push, pull or carry 75#s, work in extremely hot or cold environments. Applicants must have a good work record (no disciplines greater than one written warning within the last 12 months and 4 or less attendance points at the time of this posting). Maintenance team members who have achieved level 4 in the Tyson Maintenance training program will be given first consideration. This position is slated for team members who are currently working at this facility or complex only. Team members interested in transferring into this position from another Tyson facility should express interest through their local HR Partner.
