Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quality Inspector to perform final inspections of aerospace lubrication and scavenge pumps within a regulated aerospace maintenance, repair, and overhaul environment.
The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting visual, dimensional, functional, and documentation inspections of repaired, overhauled, assembled, and tested aerospace components. This position plays a critical role in ensuring products conform to approved technical data, customer specifications, established quality standards, and applicable FAA Part 145 requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aerospace or mechanical inspection, experience interpreting technical drawings and maintenance documentation, and proficiency using precision measuring instruments. Attention to detail, accurate recordkeeping, and a thorough understanding of quality and regulatory compliance requirements are essential.
This position requires close collaboration with repair technicians, engineering, quality personnel, and repair station leadership to identify nonconforming conditions, resolve inspection discrepancies, and support the safe return of aerospace components to service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Final Inspection and Product Conformity
- Perform final visual, dimensional, functional, and documentation inspections of repaired, overhauled, assembled, and tested aerospace components.
- Inspect aerospace lubrication pumps, scavenge pumps, and related mechanical assemblies for conformity to approved technical data and applicable quality requirements.
- Verify compliance with component maintenance manuals, engineering drawings, service bulletins, work instructions, repair specifications, Airworthiness Directives, and customer requirements.
- Examine parts and assemblies for workmanship, wear, damage, corrosion, contamination, proper configuration, identification, and assembly.
- Confirm that repaired and overhauled components meet applicable acceptance criteria before progressing through final inspection and return-to-service processes.
- Identify and document nonconforming materials, workmanship deficiencies, assembly discrepancies, and other product quality concerns.
Technical Documentation and Regulatory Compliance
- Review inspection records, test results, routers, travelers, and repair station documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Verify that required inspection and compliance documentation is complete to support return-to-service authorization.
- Confirm traceability of serialized components, replacement parts, materials, and associated documentation.
- Interpret component maintenance manuals, engineering specifications, service bulletins, inspection plans, and test procedures.
- Verify compliance with applicable FAA Part 145 requirements, customer specifications, and established repair station procedures.
- Maintain accurate, legible, complete, and retrievable inspection records.
- Identify documentation discrepancies, missing information, and deviations from approved procedures.
- Support regulatory, customer, and internal quality compliance activities as required.
Dimensional Inspection and Measurement
- Perform dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments and established inspection procedures.
- Use calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, dial indicators, thread gauges, and other appropriate measuring equipment.
- Interpret engineering drawings, dimensional specifications, tolerances, and applicable geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.
- Verify component dimensions, fit, finish, and mechanical characteristics against established acceptance criteria.
- Confirm inspection instruments and equipment are appropriate for the application and within current calibration requirements.
- Review functional test data and determine whether inspected components meet specified performance and acceptance requirements.
Quality Assurance and Nonconformance Management
- Identify, document, and communicate product nonconformances, process deviations, and inspection discrepancies.
- Coordinate with technicians, engineering, quality personnel, and repair station leadership to resolve inspection concerns.
- Support corrective actions and appropriate disposition of nonconforming components.
- Follow established quality assurance procedures, inspection requirements, and documentation practices.
- Maintain product identification, configuration control, and material traceability throughout the inspection process.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to inspection accuracy, product conformity, and documentation quality.
Safety and Team Collaboration
- Follow established workplace safety policies, regulatory requirements, and repair station procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant inspection work area.
- Collaborate with repair technicians, quality personnel, engineering teams, and repair station management.
