Position Overview:

Position Dates: January 11, 2027 – June 30, 2027 

The Quality Engineering Process Improvement Co-op will support the Quality Engineering Services team in driving operational excellence, process standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and quality operations.

This role will work closely with cross-functional teams including Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Operations to analyze processes, identify improvement opportunities, and support implementation of scalable solutions.

The co-op will contribute to projects focused on efficiency, quality system effectiveness, data analysis, and process optimization while gaining hands-on experience in medical device manufacturing and quality systems. This position offers valuable exposure to Lean methodologies, process improvement tools, and cross-functional collaboration within a regulated environment.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze quality and operational process data to identify trends, inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
• Support continuous improvement projects focused on quality engineering processes, manufacturing quality systems, and operational efficiency.
• Develop process maps, value stream maps, standard work documentation, and visual management tools to support process standardization efforts.
• Collaborate with Quality Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional partners to gather requirements and assess process improvement opportunities.
• Create dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and communicate project progress.
• Conduct root cause analysis and assist with identifying corrective and preventive actions for process-related challenges.
• Support process excellence initiatives by participating in Kaizen events, process observations, workshops, and project team meetings.
• Document project findings, recommendations, and implementation plans while ensuring alignment with quality system requirements.

Education and Experience:

Minimum Requirements:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Quality Engineering, Operations Management, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• Minimum sophomore standing at an accredited college or university.
• Availability for the Co-op duration Spring: January – June 2027

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

• Coursework or project experience related to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Quality Engineering, Statistics, Process Improvement, Operations Management, or Data Analytics.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Power BI, Visio, Copilot, or similar data analysis and process mapping tools.
• Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, Root Cause Analysis, or Continuous Improvement principles.
• Previous internship, co-op, research project, leadership position, or involvement in engineering, quality, manufacturing, or operations-related organizations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to organize and interpret data.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple functions.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated curiosity and initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement and driving solutions.

Additional Information:

Compensation & Benefits: For U.S.-based positions only, the annual base salary range for this role is $25.00 - $34.00 This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation.
