Systems Administrator

THOR Solutions is seeking a Systems Administrator to support a DHS information technology support services program focused on cloud data management, information systems operations, and governance in Yorktown VA.

This position performs system administration duties across headquarters and field sites, maintaining and updating relevant systems, addressing security breaches, and troubleshooting issues affecting systems and their functionality. The Systems Administrator troubleshoots and replaces workstations, telecommunications, and user peripheral equipment, and supports users with account access requests. The position also inspects and tracks IT equipment entering and exiting controlled spaces in accordance with security guidance and assists users with completion of annual security training requirements. Through these efforts, the Systems Administrator ensures reliable, secure, and available information systems that support the customer's mission.

Typical Responsibilities:

• Conduct system administration duties to support cybersecurity requirements, including updating relevant systems, addressing security breaches, and troubleshooting issues relative to systems and their functionality.
• Troubleshoot and replace workstations, telecommunications, and user peripheral equipment.
• Assist users with account access tickets and resolution of access issues.
• Inspect and track IT equipment entering and exiting controlled spaces in accordance with Information System Security Officer guidance.
• Assist users with completion of annual security training requirements.
• Support headquarters and field sites to maintain system availability, integrity, and security.

Location: Full-time onsite at USCG TRACEN in Yorktown, VA.

Typical Physical Activity: Desk/computer work in an office environment. May involve: repetitive motion. May also require physical activity including lifting/moving computer & server hardware assets, setting up workstations, laying network cable, and supporting other IT infrastructure activities.

Typical Pay Range: The anticipated pay range for this position in the identified location(s) is $45,000 – 75,000. Actual compensation offered will be based upon individual factors including education, qualifications, and experience.

Existing TOP SECRET/SCI Security Clearance Required: This position requires an existing active TS/SCI security clearance prior to hire. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance; therefore, only current U.S. citizens will be considered for this position.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  

• Bachelors degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, or a related discipline.
• At least four (4) years of system administration experience supporting government information systems, including maintaining and updating systems, addressing security breaches, and troubleshooting hardware, telecommunications, and peripheral equipment. Experience supporting user account access, equipment tracking in controlled environments, and security training compliance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Sharepoint.
• Knowledge of data governance and data framework compliance.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Additional Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Relevant system administration or security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Microsoft/cloud administration) preferred.
