Salary Range: $95k-$105K DOE
Position Summary
Bruin Waste Management dba as Elite Recycling and Disposal is seeking a hands-on, results-driven Area Operations Manager to oversee daily operations out its Pagosa Springs office. This role ensures the safe, cost-effective, and efficient delivery of refuse and recycling services while leading a diverse team in both field and office settings. This position plays a vital role in connecting field teams, office staff, and customers. Flexibility, integrity, and a proactive mindset are essential. Duties and responsibilities may evolve based on operational needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years in a supervisory role, preferably in waste management, logistics, trucking, construction, or related fields.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with computers and operational systems.
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License (CDL preferred).
- Ability to lead in the field and office environments.
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise, coach, and mentor field and office teams.
- Promote a positive, inclusive work culture.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
- Work with HR to identify staffing needs, recruit talent, and onboard new hires.
- Provide structured training, orientation, and ongoing employee development.
- Monitor daily routes, field operations, transfer station operations, and customer service activities.
- Ensure safety policies and procedures are followed at all times.
- Conduct field visits with personnel and lead safety meetings.
- Manage area maintenance activities to ensure fleet is running reliably and being maintained to company and manufacturer standards.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients.
- Resolve service issues and foster long-term customer relationships.
- Support sales efforts and help grow market presence.
- Maintain regulatory records (e.g., DOT compliance, CDPHE reporting, OSHA).
- Conduct audits and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Manage budget, control costs, and track performance against Profit & Loss targets.
- Assist with capital planning and fleet management.
- Independent thinker with initiative and strong follow-through.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and committed to excellent service.
- Able to manage multiple priorities and lead by example.
- Computer skills including: Microsoft Office, Teams, email, Customer Information Systems
- Regularly: sitting, computer use, attention to detail.
