Job Description:
Position Summary:
The Accounting Manager will lead core accounting operations in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This role oversees day-to-day accounting activities and plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and continuous process improvement across domestic and international operations. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who enjoys managing people, owning complex accounting areas, and partnering cross-functionally to support the business.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger, close processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting;
- Review and approve journal entries and monthly balance sheet reconciliations;
- Manage the monthly close process and support monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting;
- Lead and develop a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, review, and mentorship;
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies;
- Serve as a key contact for external auditors and support annual audit activities;
- Support tax-related reporting by coordinating with internal and external partners;
- Partner cross-functionally on accounting-related initiatives and special projects;
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve controls, and enhance reporting efficiency;
Skills and Abilities:
- Good knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP);
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; advanced MS Excel skills required;
- Previous experience working with accounting software;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills;
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines and deliver on expectations;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Education and Additional Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required;
- CPA required;
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a mix of public accounting and industry preferred;
- Prior experience managing or mentoring accounting staff;
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities;
- Collaborative, proactive leadership style.
Special Requirements:
- Hybrid position based in A&K USA’s Downer Grove, IL office, with an expectation of working onsite at least four days per week.
Salary Range:
- $125,000 - $140,000; position is bonus eligible
