Specific Responsibilities
- Ensures that all vehicles in the Transportation Department are adequately maintained by overseeing or scheduling repair, general and preventative maintenance of the vehicles and other equipment.
- Makes sure all Transportation Vehicles and Drivers are current with all State Licensing and DOT Inspections.
- Manages the scheduling, driver selection and routes driven for all school bus trips.
- Coordinates the rental of charter buses and other vehicles used by the school.
- Prepares, compiles, and submits reports on Transportation work activities, operations, vehicle logs, and work related accidents.
- Recruits, hires and trains all new bus drivers.
- Develops training material and maintains all training records for Transportation Department Drivers.
- Drives vehicles to service station for required maintenance.
- Drive vehicles on an as need basis to assist with open bus trips.
- Monitors road conditions during inclement weather.
- Manages and approves the fuel purchasing program for all vehicles.
- Coordinates all vehicle purchases, leasing requirements and insurance coverage and compliance. Have a working knowledge of the terms on all leased vehicles and make recommendations on fleet size.
- When needed responds to after school functions or/and events emergencies
- Meets regularly with the Director of Facilities & IT to provide information on operational issues, development of policies and procedures and departmental staffing.

2. Classification: Exempt or Non-Exempt (Non-exempt is a position that is paid an hourly rate and eligible for overtime. Exempt is a salary paid employee who is not eligible for OT.)

3. Position Type and expected hours of work: Part Time
a. Less than 29 hours a week
b. May need to come in after hours and some weekends
4. Responsibilities: The Transportation Manager has the responsibility for managing the daily operations of the school's transportation needs. The manager also has the responsibility of making sure to adhere to all of Pinecrest Academy's policies, procedures, and Mission Statement.
5. Work environment
a. May need to work after hours and on weekends to drive ensure the fleet and drivers are in order for the school's transportation needs.
6. Physical demands - the physical demands of the job, including bending, sitting, lifting and driving
a. This job will require:
i. Lifting 50ibs+
ii. Standing and sitting for extended time
iii. Working at a computer or laptop for extended periods
iv. Driving all of the school's transportation vehicles.
7. Travel - Minimal travel required for this position excluding bus needs.
