GENERAL MANAGER – PRESTON CHEVROLET
Aberdeen, Maryland | Preston Automotive Group
POSITION SUMMARY
Preston Automotive Group is searching for an exceptional, hands-on General Manager to lead the rebuilding and transformation of Preston Chevrolet of Aberdeen.
This is not a position for someone looking to maintain the status quo.
This is a rebuild. This is a growth opportunity. This is a chance to build something special.
Today, Preston Chevrolet sells approximately 40–50 vehicles per month. Our objective is to grow this dealership to 100 vehicles per month, while building a profitable, sustainable operation with an outstanding reputation for customer service and employee satisfaction.
We need a proven automotive leader who knows how to recruit, build teams, develop managers, increase market share, grow Fixed Operations, and create a winning culture.
The General Manager will have full responsibility for Sales, Service, Parts, Finance, BDC, and Administration.
The right individual will operate this dealership with an ownership mentality, taking personal responsibility for profitability, employee development, guest satisfaction, and long-term growth.
NOT EVERYONE IS BUILT FOR THIS JOB.
We're not looking for someone who wants the title.
We're looking for someone who wants the responsibility.
We're looking for a builder. A coach. A competitor. A leader.
We're looking for someone who is obsessed with Building Guests for Life.
If your leadership style involves sitting behind a desk, reviewing reports, and telling others what to do, this isn't the opportunity for you.
If you're the first one on the showroom floor, the first one greeting guests, the first one coaching managers, the first one celebrating wins, and the first one owning the losses, we want to talk to you.
Our next General Manager must be willing to roll up their sleeves and lead from the front.
THE CHALLENGE: BUILD A 100-UNIT DEALERSHIP
Preston Chevrolet has tremendous opportunity for growth, but getting there will require leadership, discipline, urgency, and a relentless commitment to execution.
Our expectations are clear:
- Grow monthly vehicle sales from 40–50 units to a consistent 100 units per month.
- Recruit, develop, and retain a championship sales and management team.
- Build a strong used vehicle operation focused on acquisition, inventory turn, merchandising, and profitability.
- Increase Chevrolet market share throughout Aberdeen and the surrounding communities.
- Establish a high-performing Finance and Insurance department.
- Grow customer-pay service business, repair order count, and customer retention.
- Improve Service and Parts profitability while working toward 100%+ service absorption.
- Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, urgency, and continuous improvement.
- Deliver sustainable dealership profitability and strong return on sales.
We are not interested in growth at any cost. We want profitable growth, exceptional guest experiences, and a team that takes pride in winning together.
WHAT WINNING LOOKS LIKE
1. Build Guests for Life
We don't measure success by simply selling vehicles.
We measure success by building lasting relationships.
Every guest interaction should create trust, loyalty, and a reason to return to Preston Chevrolet for their next vehicle, service visit, or referral.
Our General Manager must personally champion the guest experience and establish a reputation for excellence throughout the community.
2. Lead From the Front
Your office is wherever your team needs you.
The showroom.
The service drive.
The parts department.
The used car lot.
Great leaders are visible, engaged, coaching, and inspiring every day.
We expect our General Manager to work deals, assist customers, coach managers, recruit talent, and actively participate in every aspect of the dealership.
3. Recruit and Develop Championship People
You cannot build a 100-unit dealership without the right people.
We need a leader who knows how to identify talent, recruit aggressively, coach consistently, and develop future leaders.

Create accountability without sacrificing respect.
Recognize outstanding performance.
Develop associates personally and professionally.
Build a dealership where people are proud to work.
4. Embrace AI, Technology, and Innovation
The automotive industry is changing rapidly.
The next generation of successful dealerships will combine strong fundamentals with innovative technology.
We expect our General Managers to embrace AI, digital retailing, customer relationship management, modern marketing strategies, and technology that makes our teams more effective and efficient.
Technology should enhance the guest experience and help our associates perform at a higher level.
5. Be Active on Social Media
Our guests want to know who we are before they ever visit our dealership.
Tell your team's story.
Celebrate your associates.
Highlight your guests.
Showcase inventory.
Promote community involvement.
Build the Preston Chevrolet brand every day.
We want a General Manager who is comfortable being the face of the dealership.
6. Become a Leader in the Aberdeen Community
We expect our General Manager to become a visible and respected leader in Aberdeen and the surrounding communities.
Support local schools.
Volunteer.
Participate in community organizations.
Develop relationships with local businesses.
Build partnerships that generate long-term opportunities.
We don't just want to sell vehicles in Aberdeen. We want Preston Chevrolet to become a dealership the community is proud of.
7. Drive Profitable Growth in Every Department
