Job Scope
High level purpose of function.
The Operational Excellence & Lean Manager play an important role in driving operational excellence cross functional with focus on Manufacturing. You will partner with leadership and core teams to design, implement, improve and sustain a robust continuous improvement (CI) framework that measurably boosts performance, reduces waste, enhances quality and advances a culture of operational discipline. Working cross functionally with manufacturing, maintenance, quality, utilities, people & culture, and other support disciplines to ensure improvement initiatives deliver tangible business value.
Key Responsibilities
Overall areas of responsibilities and activities
- Develop accurate and applicable KPI metrics to measure the performance of multiple different disciplines across site, including but not limited to: manufacturing, maintenance, quality, utility, people & culture.
- Own and continuously improve the site OEE governance framework by standardizing performance definitions, loss categorization, measurement methods and reporting, while maintaining a single source of truth for manufacturing metrics and driving data-based prioritization of improvement actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as manufacturing, engineering, procurement, supply chain, and quality control to ensure smooth execution of continuous improvement initiatives, leading Lean and Six Sigma projects and applying structured problem-solving methodologies (eg PDCA, DMAIC, A3)
- Prepare and deliver progress reports, status updates, and continuous improvement reviews to internal leadership and external parties.
- Define, build and deliver the continuous improvement framework for execution on the shop floor.
- Develop the excellence system, coordinating its deployment and improvement with cross functional counter parts.
- Establish work measurement programs and analyse work samples to develop workload utilization standards.
- Develop standard work principles and ensure high level of understanding and implementation, e.g. SOPs/Wis, processes, one-point lessons etc.
- Manage the creation and population of the measurement-based ramp-up curve.
- Ensure a systematic and practical approach to 5S and layer process auditing.
- Promote cost consciousness into continuous improvement decision making.
- Educate and encourage to the correct usage of lean methodologies.
- Guide and mentor colleagues to industrial best practices, focusing on growth and development.
- Complete supplementary tasks as seen fit by management to effectively utilize time and resource for the benefit of the business.
Requirements
Educational background and previous experience required for the role
Qualifications and Experience
- Master's or Bachelors degree in engineering, business administration or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in continuous improvement, process optimization or operations management role. Experience in a mass manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Advanced degrees or certifications in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt, Black Belt), Project Management (PMP), Kaizen, or Operational Excellence are highly desirable.
- Experience with root cause analysis, value stream mapping and the development of standard work practices.
- Experience with change management and driving a continuous improvement culture across multi-functional teams.
- Experience working in a matrix organisation supporting different functions in parallel.
- Proven track record of delivering continuous improvement frameworks and projects.
- Experience in fast-growing environment, ideally within other industries than battery like food, pharma, paper & pulp, electrochemical, or similar industries.
- Experience working to industry standards obtaining certification (ISO, IATF &VDA)
- Experience working with project management and data analysis software (MS project, excel, Copilot or similar)
- Experience of working in strong safety mindset culture.

- Lean Six Sigma Methodology: Basic understanding and deep experience of implementation of Lean Six Sigma principles (DMAIC, waste reduction, process mapping, etc).
- Root Cause Analysis: Expertise in problem-solving techniques, such as Fishbone Diagram, 5 Whys, and Pareto Analysis, to identify and eliminate root causes.
- Highly autonomous with a proactive mindset and work ethic.
- Ability to document technical problems concisely.
- Experience in leading without formal mandate in terms of direct reporting teams.
- Good English skills, both written and oral, are essential. Basic Swedish and other language skills are a plus. You should have good communication skills and be able to work in close collaboration with colleagues from many different teams.
- Comfortable operating in high-profile, international, and high-pressure environments.
