Senior Firewall Subject Matter Expert (SME) / Team Lead

Our client is seeking a Senior Firewall Subject Matter Expert (SME) / Team Lead to lead enterprise firewall and VPN remediation initiatives in a financial services environment. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with team leadership, requiring someone to coordinate specialists, drive technical decisions, and ensure security compliance throughout remediation activities.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Lead firewall and VPN remediation activities with hands-on technical expertise and team oversight
• Coordinate and supervise a team of five specialists, providing work planning, technical direction, and progress reporting
• Review and validate technical deliverables for completeness, accuracy, security alignment, and deployment readiness
• Collaborate with Enterprise Network Services (ENS) and key stakeholders to align remediation efforts and resolve dependencies
• Apply deep network security expertise to guide complex technical decisions and troubleshoot challenges
• Identify, document, and escalate risks and issues to appropriate parties prior to deployment
• Ensure adherence to firewall governance policies, security controls, and change management procedures

Requirements

• 8–10 years of enterprise firewall security and network security experience
• Demonstrated expertise in firewall rule management, VPN technologies, and security remediation activities
• Strong background in financial services network environments and security architecture
• Proven team leadership and coordination experience managing technical personnel
• Solid understanding of firewall governance, security controls, and risk escalation protocols
• Hands-on troubleshooting capability and ability to perform detailed technical reviews
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and business stakeholders
