Description
About us:
Amach is an industry-leading technology driven company with headquarters located in Dublin and remote teams in UK and Europe.
Our blended teams of local and nearshore talent are optimised to deliver high quality and collaborative solutions.
Founded in 2013, Amach was created to solve a specific problem in aviation: too much complexity, too little usable intelligence. We help airlines modernise their operating model using cloud, data and Al-delivered by teams with deep aviation domain expertise.
Our goal is to maximize airlines' operational efficiency by optimizing resource use, reduce costs and increase customer experience and satisfaction.
We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer with a strong GitHub background to be embedded with our customer. You'll work closely with their engineering and technology teams to build, run and improve the CI/CD platform that their software delivery depends on.
This is a hands-on role. GitHub and GitHub Actions are at the centre of it: you'll design and maintain workflows, shape how teams use GitHub day to day, and help bring pipelines and repositories onto consistent, secure standards. You'll also work across Python scripting, Docker and AWS to automate and improve how software gets built, tested and released.
The customer operates in a large and complex enterprise environment. You'll need to be comfortable working across teams, navigating processes that may not always be clearly defined, and taking problems through from investigation to resolution.
Please note: candidates must be based in the UK and have existing right to work in the UK. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
Required Experience:
- 6+ years' hands-on experience in DevOps, platform engineering or a similar technical role.
- Strong, demonstrable experience with GitHub, including GitHub Actions, workflow design and CI/CD pipeline development.
- Good working knowledge of Git workflows, branching strategies, pull request processes and repository governance.
- Experience writing Python scripts for automation; Bash scripting is a bonus.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and containerised deployments.
- Working experience with AWS in production environments.
- Understanding of CI/CD security good practice, including secrets management and access control.
- Ability to troubleshoot pipeline and deployment issues independently.
- Strong communication skills and confidence working as an embedded member of a customer's technical team.
- A genuinely hands-on approach, comfortable working in a large enterprise where things are not always clearly defined.
Key responsibilities & duties include:
- Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, including reusable workflows, composite actions and self-hosted runners.
- Help define and maintain how teams work in GitHub, including repository structures, branching strategies, pull request workflows, branch protection rules and access controls.
- Support the migration and consolidation of repositories and pipelines from other tools (such as Jenkins, GitLab or Bitbucket) into GitHub and GitHub Actions.
- Make sure secrets, credentials and configuration are handled securely across pipelines.
- Write Python and Bash scripts to automate manual tasks, integrate tools and improve developer workflows.
- Build and support containerised applications using Docker, deploying to AWS (ECS/Fargate).
- Work with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) as part of the delivery pipeline.
- Troubleshoot build, deployment and pipeline issues, identifying root causes and putting lasting fixes in place.
- Improve pipeline reliability, speed and visibility through monitoring, logging and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with developers, engineering leads and customer stakeholders to improve delivery practices and promote DevOps ways of working.
- Produce clear documentation and share knowledge with other engineers and teams.
Desirable Experience:
- GitHub Enterprise administration, or experience rolling GitHub out across multiple teams.
- Experience migrating pipelines from Jenkins, GitLab CI or Bitbucket Pipelines to GitHub Actions.
- GitHub certifications (e.g. GitHub Actions or GitHub Administration).
- Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience.
- Experience with Amazon ECS/Fargate or Kubernetes.
- Experience in aviation, travel or other highly regulated environments.
What’s in it for you:
- An opportunity to join a fast-growing company
- Options for career advancement
- Learning and development opportunities
- Flexible working environment
- Competitive salaries based on experience
