Senior COBOL Engineer AI Innovator

Mission Overview:

Keystone Solutions is seeking a Senior COBOL Engineer & AI Innovator for a consultancy mission at a client site. The successful candidate will join a team of experts in the Employee Benefits department, working on the VELO application, which is crucial for managing contracts and coverage for group insurance and healthcare. This role involves development, technical analysis, production support, and maintenance, contributing to the evolution of the application landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design effective, maintainable, and performant technical solutions in collaboration with functional designers.
• Take ownership of important applications, batch processes, incidents, and technical improvements.
• Ensure correct deployment across different environments and validate solutions through appropriate testing.
• Maintain the quality of the technical patrimony and anticipate the impact of new developments.
• Identify and resolve issues in technical implementations, including production and performance problems.
• Coach less experienced colleagues and share knowledge within the team.
• Contribute to modernization initiatives and the future direction of the application landscape.
• Explore and evaluate the use of Generative AI and Microsoft Copilot for analysis, documentation, testing, code quality, and developer productivity.
• Help translate promising AI concepts into pragmatic, secure, and measurable improvements in a real business context.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor degree or equivalent through relevant professional experience.
• Personal Skills: Logical and methodical insight, strong problem-solving skills, ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, structured and proactive approach, good communication skills, and a coaching mindset.
• Business Experience: Experience in a large IT organization with transversal stakeholders, analyzing complex business processes, and proven ownership of critical applications.
• Technical Experience: Advanced COBOL application development (10+ years), strong SQL/DB2 or SQL Server knowledge (10+ years), technical analysis, solution design, debugging, and troubleshooting (10+ years), testing, deployment, and production support (10+ years).
• Functional Experience: Knowledge of functional analysis for IT projects, structured testing, and test automation concepts.
