This role is intended to function similarly to a Construction/Field Engineer, with a strong emphasis on identifying field issues, developing RFIs, interpreting technical information, and helping drive timely engineering resolutions.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical interface between field construction personnel, the Project Engineer, Construction Manager, contractors, and office-based engineering teams.
- Identify construction/field issues and generate RFIs (Requests for Information) with clearly defined problems and potential solutions.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, construction documents, and technical information.
- Support primarily mechanical construction activities, with exposure to electrical scope as required.
- Assist with coordination and resolution of technical construction issues to minimize field delays.
- Support the planning, development, interpretation, and tracking of Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) activities.
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, and construction information to help ensure field work is not constrained.
- Communicate field conditions, project needs, technical concerns, and proposed solutions clearly to engineering and project leadership.
- Support construction planning, execution, progress tracking, and coordination across project stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Approximately 7+ years of relevant construction, field engineering, project engineering, or construction coordination experience preferred; the manager is open to candidates with significantly more experience.
- Engineering degree preferred, with Mechanical Engineering particularly relevant; other engineering disciplines may be considered based on experience.
- Strong experience developing and managing RFIs and coordinating technical issue resolution.
- Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) experience, training, or project exposure highly preferred.
- Experience supporting mechanical construction strongly preferred; electrical construction exposure is beneficial.
- Oil & gas experience preferred, although relevant industrial or manufacturing construction experience may be considered.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, construction specifications, work packages, and other technical documentation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate between field and office-based teams.
- Experience working with Project Engineers, Construction Managers, contractors, engineering teams, and other project stakeholders.
- Must be able to support the project's transition to Midland, TX; local Midland candidates are preferred but not required.
- Must meet all job requirements.
