Job Description Summary

GE Vernova is accelerating the path to more reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy while helping customers power economies and deliver electricity that is vital to health, safety, security, and improved quality of life. Are you excited by the opportunity to lead the next generation of turbine technology and decarbonize the world?

Summary
As a Technical Leader for Aerodynamics, you will drive aerodynamic design excellence for our gas power portfolio. You will lead complex turbine aerodynamic design teams, providing technical direction for New Product Introduction (NPI), New Technology Introduction (NTI), and fleet support programs. In this role, you will bridge the gap between conceptual design and product validation, coaching team members and collaborating with global cross-functional partners to drive innovation, improve aerodynamic efficiency, and ensure product reliability.

Job Description

What impact you’ll make: Roles and Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction and oversight for assigned aerodynamic programs, ensuring robust design practices from conceptual phase through product validation.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and manage program plans, including defining milestones, budgets, resource allocation, and schedules to meet critical NPI/NTI commitments.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead and coordinate global, multi-disciplinary engineering teams (Mechanical, Thermal, Performance) to ensure alignment with program goals and seamless design integration.
  • Technical Coaching: Mentor and coach team members in advanced aerodynamic design and analysis techniques, fostering a culture of technical excellence and accountability.
  • Innovation & Process Improvement: Partner with Advanced Design Tools (ADT) and GE Vernova Advanced Research (ARC) to integrate cutting-edge technology into our workflows. Lead the development and evolution of design practices, templates, and digital toolsets to improve productivity and quality.
  • Digital & AI Transformation: Evaluate and implement AI/ML strategies to optimize aerodynamic design cycles, automate routine analysis, and improve long-term system performance prediction.
  • Product Excellence: Oversee root cause analysis for field issues and apply Lean principles to identify, evaluate, and implement design improvements.
  • Governance: Ensure all work is scheduled, documented, and executed in accordance with ISO standards and business design practices, maintaining high-quality technical rigor.

What you’ll bring: Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or related Engineering/Science discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in aerodynamic analysis and design for turbomachinery, or comparable
  • FOR US POSTING ONLY “This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. government export control restrictions, and this posting is only for U.S. persons including U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and protected individuals (e.g., certain refugees and asylees). GE Vernova will require proof of status prior to employment.”

What will make you stand out: Desired Characteristics

  • Masters in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with specialization in Aerodynamics
  • Demonstrated experience in steady and/or unsteady aerodynamic analysis and design of turbomachinery components.
  • Demonstrated track record of technical leadership and managing complex, cross-functional engineering projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of analytical and experimental fluid mechanics, with specific experience in 3D CFD analysis for turbomachinery.
  • AI/ML Fluency: Demonstrated experience or ability to evaluate and select AI/ML strategies for design system improvements, surrogate modeling, or automated optimization.
  • Experience architecting solutions utilizing programming and scripting (e.g., Python) for engineering automation and analysis efficiency.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive innovation in a global matrix organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex technical data for diverse audiences.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a positive "can do" attitude and a commitment to quality and accountability.
