Description

Overview

A private family in New York City is seeking an exceptional Temporary Nanny / Family Assistant to care for their 15-month-old son from November 11, 2026 through January 1, 2027.

The schedule will typically be six days per week, approximately 9am–7pm, with some flexibility required around the family’s schedule. The family is seeking someone who is already based in New York City and able to commit to the placement for its full duration.

The role will be approximately 70% childcare and 30% family assistant support relating primarily to the child and his day-to-day needs. Their son is a happy, social and active toddler who loves being out and about. The family is looking for someone who is genuinely playful and engaging while bringing a strong understanding of early childhood development. They particularly value a nanny who naturally incorporates language, learning, exploration and developmental opportunities into everyday play.

This is a high-trust, high-autonomy position and will suit someone who is highly independent, proactive and confident taking ownership of the child’s day without requiring significant direction. The successful candidate should be comfortable researching and planning activities, anticipating what is needed and creating engaging, developmentally appropriate days both at home and around New York City.

  • Prepare and offer age-appropriate meals and snacks as required
  • Manage the child’s belongings, clothing, supplies and other day-to-day needs
  • Monitor and replenish the child’s supplies as required
  • Assist with relevant bookings, reservations and activity planning
  • Anticipate the child’s and family’s needs and proactively assist with practical day-to-day logistics
  • Work collaboratively with the parents while confidently taking ownership of the child’s day
  • Maintain a safe, organised and stimulating environment for the child

Qualifications

  • Strong professional experience caring for babies and toddlers, including significant recent sole-charge experience
  • A relevant university degree or tertiary qualification in early childhood education, education, psychology, child development or a related field is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of early childhood development and the ability to incorporate this naturally into play and everyday activities
  • Career nannies, early-years professionals and candidates with strong private household experience are encouraged to apply
  • Highly independent, proactive and capable of thinking ahead
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Naturally playful, engaging and communicative with young children
  • Strong work ethic and comfortable working an intensive six-day-per-week schedule

  • Must already be based in New York City
  • Available to begin November 11, 202 and commit through January 1, 2027
