About the role
We are looking for an Advisor - Controllership to be responsible for providing the business with timely and accurate financial statements and analysis in accordance with the IFRS and Rio Tinto policies.
This position is an excellent opportunity to join the regional team based in Delhi. This dynamic team is responsible to deliver optimal controllership support to Product Groups and all Business Units (BU). Working in a collaborative environment the team is responsible for coordinating and ensuring a high quality of all accounting, financial reporting, technical support and compliance services are delivered to all Business Units. Reporting to the Manager - Controllership, you will:
- Provide analysis of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial results that will serve for external and management reporting.
- Manage Key provisions, Receivables Accruals, Dividend transactions, Royalty, Onerous Contracts, Lease Agreements, Complex Accounting Assessments etc. (including underlying RACM and SOX compliances.
- Partner with the Closing & Reporting (C&R), Statutory Reporting and Finance Business Partners (FBPs) and Other Support teams to enhance financial services provided to the BUs
- Ensure compliance with adequate internal controls, SOX standard and Rio Tinto’s accounting policies.
- Responsible for preparing accounting paper for derivative instruments and other complex accounting issues, ensuring alignment with business inputs and full compliance with applicable IFRS standards
- Review statutory financials and prepare financial summary for board meetings.
- Support Internal and External Audits.
- Support work transition projects (Global to India).
- Support the controllership function to standardize and optimize its processes.
- Manage requests to/from various stakeholders.
- Support adhoc projects or initiatives.
- Solve complex problems and recommend solutions.
- Ad hoc responsibilities as directed by management
The role is part of the Southern Hemisphere Controllership team.
The role could also be involved on an ad hoc basis supporting other Controllership responsibilities.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have to be:
- Minimum 6 – 8 years of experience in finance including team management preferably CA/MBA
- Present experience of IFRS reporting/ Diploma in IFRS, accounting/consolidation experience would be an asset.
- Knowledge of SAP and advanced Excel skills.
- Proactive and the ability to work independently.
- Strong analytical skills and critical thinking.
