Job Summary:

The Excavator Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining construction equipment to facilitate the successful execution of construction and industrial services projects, particularly trackhoes for pipe work. This position requires a strong knowledge of equipment operation, adherence to safety standards, and collaboration with the team.

This employee will be a part of a travel team, so all candidates must be open to traveling as needed throughout the Southeast.

  • Safely operate and maintain heavy construction equipment, specifically, but not limited to, trackhoes and other excavators, for earthmoving and other purposes on heavy civil construction projects.
  • Follow project plans, blueprints, and instructions to complete assigned tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Safely load, transport, and unload materials using appropriate equipment and techniques.
  • Collaborate with project teams to coordinate equipment operations and ensure project deadlines are met.

Requirements and Education:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience operating heavy construction equipment with a minimum of 3 years on large trackhoes.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance to access secured facilities, including military bases.
  • Proficient in operating a variety of construction equipment.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and techniques.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to equipment operation.
  • Ability to interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with GPS and other relevant construction technology.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Attention to detail in executing tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Customer service mindset for interacting with project stakeholders.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and follow instructions.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Familiarity with relevant tools, equipment, and software used in the industry.

Preferred Requirements and Education:

  • Certification in equipment operation is preferred.
